I must have missed the bit where they explain why she needs a basement full of prepubescent zombies.

she did say she needed them for her mystical powers. i think.

Why did she end up as a gay/Reddit icon is what I’m curious about?
>>

wasn’t she using the children’s energy to extend her life? genuinely don’t remember. movie was forgettable just like barbarian. the only interesting part of barbarian was ten minutes richard brake was on screen and i attribute that more to him than creger.

iirc, she was feeding off their youthful energy. There is a scene hinting she is a parasite.

It's not even a plot hole. A plot hole would be pointing out how 17 children ran from different locations to one house without any witnesses or being caught on any sort of CCTV beyond doorcams. And how the FBI couldn't solve this disappearance that was solved by one father who triangulated the running direction of two children on a whim.

She was slowly consuming their vitality to restore her own. It's heavily hinted at on multiple occasions throughout the film.
There are also some hints that she is much older than she appears.

>>
>>221281976
>is easily explained
>you just have to assume everyone is incompetent because it's convenient for the plot
No, I don't think I will. You can explain mountains of bullshit this way. Furthermore, I've already illustrated that, on a whim, a father of one of the missing children found the house by just drawing a direct line from where they ran to. The only reason the FBI didn't do the same, despite having more resources than one depressed father is that it would make the plot impossible.
If they really didn't care, then why the sham with auntie making the whole family masquerade for the police? Why are they even integrating Alex? Why did they come to the house? Shouldn't they not give a fuck?
>This applies to real life too
>Police and FBI literally NEVER find anyone ever
Okay? What am I supposed to do with this idiotic hyperbole? You are free to not care about this plot hole, but to downplay it in this idiotic way is pretty silly.

>next days she tells her nephew "the cops will come tomorrow, so clean up the house", the witch then sends the kids away in the middle of the night

>at some point kids return to the house
So the witch had these 17 kids running all around the neighborhood at night MULTIPLE times and they were never seen? Also, where did the kids go and what did they do for 15 hours when the cops were searching the witch's sisters house? Such shit writing.

No? The scene obviously indicates that she is sending them into the forest that is behind the house, where they just stand there. How do you fail to grasp that possessed are just catatonic when they are not used?
And don't get me wrong. It's badly written, but this is hardly an example of it.
>>
>>221282476
>The scene obviously indicates that she is sending them into the forest that is behind the house, where they just stand there.
Nope. We just see the kids run out the back door, we don't see where they go or what they do. And them "standing the forest" is bad too because they were multiple search parties looking for the kids and somebody would have seen them.

Because we are shown what's behind the house when the teacher goes to look through the windows in their back yard. And what can they do? They are literal puppets. She found some place there and just told them to stand for a day. They were doing the same thing they were doing in the basement.
>>
>>221282612
>She found some place there and just told them to stand for a day.
Again, multiple search parties, drones, were looking for the kids. The forest would be the #1 place to look because it's a place this has concealable areas. They would have been 100% found if they were standing out in the woods for 15 hours.

>>
>>221282641
>Again, multiple search parties, drones, were looking for the kids
That's just the general point of police incompetency that allows the plot to exist. From the get-go, the movie refused to create evidence that would allow this case to be actually solved in a day until Brolin looked at the footage and asked himself a question that no FBI agent ever thought to ask. "HMMM, where are they running to?"
>The forest would be the #1 place to look because it's a place this has concealable areas.
And maybe they did look when the kids weren't there. It's not like there is a guardpost in the forest now. Her sending them into the patch of forest is the least glaring problem of the movie's supposed mystery.
Look at this shit. 17 kids running through this neighbourhood at night and not a single camera or late-night driver on the way. That's so fucking lucky, Aunt Gladis. Otherwise, you'd be spawn camping the swat teams with your twig bullshit the very next day.

It was a refreshing change of pace from the vague "possession/hallucination/unreliable narrator/dysfunctional family" cheap modern horror movies like to use and is pretty straightforward. This doesn't work if the kids are handing out in the middle of the woods in broad daylight as you are suggesting.
>And maybe they did look when the kids weren't there.
??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
You do realize that cops go over evidence and search things over and over in hopes of finding some clue. So you're saying they just didn't even check the forest back yard for any clues when they when were search the witchs sisters house? You are just a retard that accepts whatever is on screen.
>>
>>221283311
>This doesn't work
Are you selectively reading sentences? The general incompetency is the writing problem. Nobody is that callous about 17 missing kids to begin with, and in no way can they run through these neighbourhoods without being seen by someone.
>So you're saying they just didn't even check the forest back yard for any clues when they when were search the witchs sisters house?
Have you seen the movie? There were two guys there, and it was mostly a wellness check, if anything. They didn't come to rip out floorboards. The story literally prevents police from considering the boy as involved in any way. Otherwise the plot won't work.
>You do realize that cops go over evidence and search things over and over in hopes of finding some clue.
By setting up guardhouses in patches of forest? Your entire argument is that there is NO WAY there wouldn't be a police outpost in the backyard forest of that house. Which is simply idiotic nitpicking.
>You are just a retard that accepts whatever is on screen.
Are you actually autistic? I agree with you that the movie is badly written and wants you to accept that the FBI is literally too retarded to check where the kids are running to.
Just that your spastic "WHERE DID SHE SEND THEM!?!?!?!?!?" is inconsequential and downright petty considering the bullshit the movie already established. I guess there is no point to this conversation except you proving that you actually found some glaring problem. Great job. Don't bite your ankles in excitement because you saw tree but not the forest.
>>
>>221283538
>Are you selectively reading sentences?
No retard, I'm only focusing on the arguments I put forth. You are saying "IT'S FINE BECAUSE THE POLICE ARE INCOMPETENT".
>? The general incompetency is the writing problem.
No police would be so incompetent that they can't find kids standing in the woods in broad daylight.
>Have you seen the movie? There were two guys there, and it was mostly a wellness check, if anything.
It wasn't a "wellness check" retard. The one kid that didn't go missing lived there. Hence why the witch wanted the kids out of the house. The idea of the cops not checking out back is insane. The idea of multiple search parties not checking all the woods over and over in multiple shifts for at least a week is insane.
>By setting up guardhouses in patches of forest?
Uh, NO. When someone goes missing the police and residents set up SEARCH PARTIES and they go over the forest areas. They repeat this a few times just in case they missed some clue. The idea of 17 kids just standing still in a forest in broad daylight is ludicrous.
> I agree with you that the movie is badly written
You are literally disagreeing with me on specifics, you dumb faggot.
>c "WHERE DID SHE SEND THEM!?!?!?!?!?" is inconsequential and downright petty considering the bullshit the movie already established.
I think it's more consequential. Lots of people have ring doorbell cameras, I do too, but I have mine set up so it the sensor only activate on my front step. It doesn't catch cars driving by (or in the case of the movie kids running by). So it's somewhat possible the doorbell cameras might not have seen the kids. But the kids hanging out in the woods in broad daylight when the entire town and police force is looking for them? No way. As I said, you just believe whatever is on screen like a retard.

It wasn't AT NIGHT. The witch sent the kids away from the house AT NIGHT because she knew the cops would be coming the next day. The cops showed up to the house in daylight and the kids weren't there. And she certainly wouldn't have them come back in the middle of the day. So for 12+ hours of daylight the kids were outside the house.

This then filters down to ordinary girls who like witches cause they resist or whatever. Fags usually like that because most fags (some exceptions) are left wing feminists and like the same shit girly girls like. It's that simple.
