If they just focused on Sledge, it would've been just as good as BoB
>>221282345They should have discovered a Nazi concentration camp in the jungles of New Guinea. Then it would have been as good as BoB.
>>221282345We really didnt need the homefront. Bastilone was a good inclusion but it could have been either a one off inclusion or his own series.
>it's another Australia episode
I only watch the pelelu and Okinawa parts
>>221282629the NAME is PE-LE-LIU
>>221282345No it wouldn't, regular shmoes don't care about the crayon eaters getting into a warcrimes contest with the nips. Europeans are more interested in the war in Europe, and the war in Europe lets the Yanks perpetuate their myth as Saviours Of The War(a necessary narrative in a country obsessed with giving the Soviets no credit for anything, ever, especially in the few instances where they actually deserve some). The Pacific theatre meanwhile was straight up revenge for Pearl Harbour and an assertion of American military imperialist dominance in the region, both of which are only a source of pride for military people/military obsessed people and a certain type of Washington political wonk - they don't make ordinary Americans feel like the good guys, so even they don't want to dwell on it in the way The Pacific does, they want to solemnly acknowledge it and then get back to Europe where they're the Conquering Heroes riding in on white chargers to save the day.I actually find the theatre fascinating, but I'm a wargame and history nerd, normies just want their good feels.
>>221282642Idc, I wasn’t going to look up how to spell that because you know what I’m talking about anyway
>>221282652being a WW2 history nerd is supreme normie
>>221282629guadalcanal parts were better
>>221282345I actually slightly liked the pacific morehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08vuxacZmqg
Leckie is my favorite character but Sledgehammer had the best side characters. Actually Burgin is probably my favorite character.
>>221282652> an assertion of American military imperialist dominance in the region, If this was true why didn't America continue to occupy the parts of China they took over from the Japanese at the end of the war? Why would they allow Mao to happen?
I killed Raps. And i got pretty damn good at it.
>>221282629same
>>221282652>but I'm a wargame and history nerdyou really arent judging by that entire preamble of neurotic faggotry
>>221282847the goal Operation Beleaguer was to kick out all of the japs still living in china(and prevent the commies from getting their weapons and equipment), not for any long term occupation
not sure if its over exposure to Nazi WW2 movies but as I've gotten older I decided I'm much more interested in the pacific theater than the european
based sledgehammer
The John Basilone episode is good and I'm tired of pretending it isn't.
>>221282345This but snafu as the main character/narrator
>>221283325I like Basilone but it's a bit hard to make great action scenes about three Italian dudes running around in the pitch black in a jungle.
>>221283325Man..THE PACIFIC>>>>>>>>>Band of Brothers>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Masters of the air.
>>221284110nah BoB > TP
The Bastogne episode is good enough to be its own movie
>>221282847because America were good guys back then
>>221284515We still are.
>>221284110I could only do 2 episodes of Masters of the Air and I love WW2 planes. They fucked it up so bad.
>M'sk you summin'
They skipped the part where Sledge spent a whole year living in China after the war.
At the core of every conflict is a rush for resources.Japan didn't have enough oil/fuel. Germany the same. Their imperial dreams necessitates access to oil they can control directly.Almost a hundred years later Iran has the world in checkmate because of oil access and China is now cornering Tungsten production and who knows what else.Either global peace is achieved one way or another or countries that need more and more resources simply can't procure all the sources for them by force.
>last name be Sledge >designated mortar man>still just wants to kill japs with his little carbine anywayBased beyond belief
The Sledge+SNAFU bromance just felt right, it carried the hell out of the entire show.
>>221282847because the PRC has been the designated successor state for America for a long time.
The whole show was too damn spastic, it focused on too many storylines at the same time instead of just keeping up with one group of Marines, like BoB did with Easy Company.
>>221284769The prc didn't exist in 1946, chang
>>221284877clueless ahh goy
>>221284738The Pacific had more relatable characters all around. Band of Brothers was full of manlets with chips on their shoulders.
>>221284905Oh right, how could I have forgotten about the jews pulling the strings on everything for the past garillion years.
>>221282345If they didn't include the sappy romance parts it would be the greatest series in history
>>221285007It's so bad I don't even remember there being a romance story besides Basilone getting married and insisting on getting killed at Iwo Jima instead of just chilling selling war bonds
>>221284645His 2nd book is great. Especially the audio book read by an old southern guy.
>>221285007The worst part of episode 3 was that Leckies entire love story was made up. He didn't fall in love with some greek australian woman and get his heart broken. He was sleeping with multiple women and even dodging one woman who claimed he got her pregnant.
>>221282345It was practically unwatchable thanks to all the fellating of “sledge.” >Yeah I just sort of showed up and everybody liked me except one guy but then later he learned the error of his ways and realized how perfect I was and apologized. And that’s how I won the war in The Pacific.
After that failure in the pic, The Pacific doesn't look that bad to me anymore.
>>221282345>If they just focused on SNAFU, it would've been just as good as BoBFix'd
>>221282345I like it more than BoB on repeat watchings. Yes, I understand it has its flaws, but I just like it more.
>>221283325>I'm tired of pretending it isn'tone of the gayest reddit sayings on /tv/. stop using it you supreme cocksuckers.
>>221284674>At the core of every conflict is a rush for resources.>Japan didn't have enough oil/fuel. Germany the same. Their imperial dreams necessitates access to oil they can control directly.yeah every war is about resources in multiple ways, and you could count land and human lives as resources. true about Japan and Germany having nowhere near enough resources/production capability to fight the US, let alone the US, UK and russia. The war was over in Dec 41 when the US joined.
