I missed the entirety of 9/11, it was a nice day my friend wholives nearby and I walked home from school. It started at the end of the school day, I saw a couple teachers running through the halls but thought nothing of it, the walk home was about half an hour, when I got home the north tower had fallen about ten minutes beforehand, both my parents were glued to the TV.
If it happened today I can't imagine it would even be possible, just strolling along completely oblivious enjoying the sunshine...

Same, it was my second day of 1st grade, and I was homeschooling at the time with my Mom. We do the Pledge of Allegiance with this little flag at 9am, she turns on the TV, and we watch the 2nd plane hit with a woman freaking out on air. We got a little work done that day, but I remember just waiting for my Dad to come home and scrolling the channels later on just to see which TV stations had switched over to news. Cartoon Network stayed on cartoons, but almost everything else was switched to 9/11 coverage.

The one that really hit home for some reason that I'll remember this forever was the HGTV channel had a picture of a purple flower with solemn music playing, alongside the caption:
"Due to the nature of today's tragic events HGTV is suspending programming". I remember it stayed like that for days, with the writing switching "today's events" to "Tuesday's events". Just something about it really made you feel the weight of what just happened, like wow, even HGTV is mentioning it...
