Boomlennials used to sit around the television sets in their living rooms watching people play poker instead of... just playing poker. And don't even pretend this is on the same level of watching a game of niggerball, there is literally no skill required or displayed.
I can't stand the sound of the players fucking around with the poker chips.
>>221285033>there is literally no skill required and that is where you're wrong because you'd absolutely fold if one of those players bluffed you with a 7-2. that's skill.
>>221285135agree. seems like it became some kind of alternative proxy for "i have skills"
>>221285168>lying is a skillonly a jew would say something like that
>>221285658takes one to know one
>>221285033Poker is the only good betting game
people cared about it because they were playing online every day
>>221285033>watching people play poker instead of... just playing poker.People who do an activity tend to be interested in the highest level of that activity. If you start sweating with your mates over a hundred bucks or something, it must be exhilarating to see what it is like for the people that are putting up hundreds of thousands.
I prefer Omaha. There’s much more strategy involved and you can’t just bullshit your way into an easy victory. You genuinely have to be able to play the game well and manage both your hand and everyone else’s in your mind. They should show that on TV, but it’s always Hold ‘em.
>>221285033Every game and sport is all about luck. You're either lucky to have the genes to win, or you don't. All competition is meaningless.
>>221286525There’s such a thing called “training”, anon.
>>221285033Nobody was watching this shit. That's why it was on ESPN8.
>>221285033>there is literally no skill required or displayed.there is skill for winning players but the appeal was that people would think they were good and play a lot due to luck.
>>221286525chess is 100% skill. It's impossible to beat a skilled chess player if you are not good yourself.
I used to jack off to poker tournaments in the 2000s because there were a ton of hot bimbos with their cleavage out playing it. I had the internet but only on a desktop PC, so I wanted to be able to stay on the couch.
>>221286563The cards run out exactly as they are going to. No skill whatsoever. The strength of any hand can be calculated with minimal difficulty. Convincing a stronger hand to fold or a weaker hand to call is less about the opponent than the caller. Some people don't have the stones to gamble.
>>221286495>strategy>omahaYou mean the fact everyone goes all in like 4 times at the beginning of the damn tourney just to try to hit something right off the bat? Yeah some strategy
>>221286659If you're any good at math you can tell from your hand if you've got a winning hand or not. Poker is not for the dim.
>>221285033I don’t think they used to show probabilities on screen so it would have required skill to calculate pot odds on the fly. They do now so you’re right.
>>221286659The skilled players don’t, and the unskilled players are filtered out quickly. The whole point of Omaha is that you can’t just rely on the luck of the draw when everyone has way more cards in their hand. It’s a mind game.
>>221286641>Convincing a stronger hand to fold or a weaker hand to call is less about the opponent than the callerthat's where the skill lies. It's about knowing what your opponent has in relation to your hand based on betting patterns and either extracting the most amount of money from them if you have them beat, or you losing the minimal amount if you are beat. And there's also bluffing which is requires you sensing thye are weak and acting on it when you are also weak yourself.
>be owner of gambling institution>literally rig all the games so you win in the long run>accumulate vast amounts of wealth>use PR and marketing to sell it to more people to increase profits>be OP>"Remember when everyone organically was super into gambling on the TV?"Fire. I think fire would be the most effective way to kill as many people as possible with the minimal amount of resources. Fire can be used to destroy housing, crops, food storage, people themselves, fuel storage, manufacturing bases etc etc.Yeah, i think when the time comes to purge the low IQ's we just use fire.
>>221285033They still do. My parents love watching the tournaments. Also I remember twitch had some tournaments going on as well. It might make a comeback with how big into gambling zoomers are.
always that one guy who brought his poker setup everywhere he went
Tony G was the only poker player worth watching.CAN YOU FEEL MY POWER, BABY!?
I consistently beat all my "skilled" pokerfag friends by just being luckier than them
OP. Please let me forget about that craze and time.So horrible.I hate gambling.
>>221285033I didn't know anyone actually did care. The only time I ever saw this on TV was at like 4 in the morning
>instead of just playing pokeryeah because dad can get his boys over to play every day of the week. My dad watched all sports including poker and played with his friends almost weekly at their peak. I cherish those memories but now he doesn't have those guys anymore, but shit he had a friend group as far as age 45 whereas mine died out around age 28 so its kinda sad comparing us
