If they're near a coal mine, almost everyone works at the coal mine. If they're near some kind of factory, within an hour or sometimes two, then everybody works at that factory.It used to be soul crushing work and probably still is, but at least you get paid pretty well as a coal miner these days. And the areas are so low income and so low cost of living that you can really live like a baller on a 150k a year, so much coal miners are hoodrich now and drive around in big souped up trucks and whatnot.People do drugs, they drink, the same type of shit they do in all rural, boring areas. The less opportunity there is around, the more drug use and poverty there'll be.
