Back when people still use film, DoP are the colorist of film, they will calculate shit like kelvin, doing field research over some shit like set natural albedo, and put a decision on filters, prints, anything that could give colors to their film. These days colorist are colorist, they were there to color those low contrast raw footage yadda yadda because digiggers camera capture stuff in the most flattest looking composition that you'll ever seen and not to mention that studio have their mandatory look up tables in every lot in every computer that makes everything looks the same lately
most of this is because you are looking at low quality pirated stuff probably with botched color grading on a shitty lcd monitor that doesn't even know what a calibration meansbuy a decent oled screen, calibrate it and use proper high quality source files then it looks just finethe reason films looked different before was because everyone had a shitty 2 color tv so that's what the content was made for. now the quality standards have changed drastically since screen technology has come a long way since then
