>Last time they gave Thundercats an adaptation an elder millennial made it intentionally bad because he hated his brother making him watch the original
That's pretty fucking funny.
>>
>>221295917
It's actually good that they make this

The more these flicks cause them to lose a ton of money the more we will start to abandon this shitty 80s nostalgiaslop era
>>
Would they be considered boomers? Wouldn't it have been Gen X that grew up on these cartoons?
Maybe some old farts of that generation have moved into certain positions to be able to have these projects green lit. It'll flop though.

No dude people born in 1946 were totally the main audience for a 80s kid show.
>>
>>221296076
Fuck, I thought Gen X started in the late mid to late 70s. I didn't think Millennials reached all the way back into the early 80s.
>>
>>221296053
Im a millennial and I wasn't even a sperm in the 80s. Most of use have late 90s/y2k nostalgia. I fucking hate the 80s I think it's a shitty ugly decade with horrendous tastes.

Just don’t watch it then
>>
>>221296275
No, the 2012 one was shit. It had a good pilot and I mostly liked the Petalars episode but everything else sucked major balls.

I think 80s nostalgia is overdone but I'm glad it's making zoomers seethe because they can't make anything better and grew up with gay calarts bullshit and therapy cartoons while 80s kids had exciting action cartoons on every afternoon after school.

the premise/power is great and the origin story/movie would make a fun flick. it WOULD require a level of production design we only have in a post-Star-Wars-prequels world, and i think the right filmmaker could make a little darker and serious.

i feel like i'm advocating for everything i hate, but Bravestarr struck me as one of those cartoon ideas that could be adapted into something better. same way i want a live-action Dirty Pair (as long as the actresses are cute).

I don't draw in the CalArts style and when I did draw, I would use a photo or picture and try to draw as closely as possible as the picture or photo. This was from a few years ago when I did try to get back into drawing. I got shit on by anti-woke people for trying to draw stuff that resembled the people in the pictures or photos when it was really just practice.

Apparently they didn't like the "realism" when I was drawing since Hollywood and the video game industry would also make their women as realistic as possible and closer to resembling the campy and exaggerated looks of 1% of the population that is from the LGBT crowd despite having the technology to make the characters look good with better designs.

NTA but it's risk averse both in the sense that people will see it because of brand recognition, and risk averse in that it gives you plausible deniability with 'problematic' elements ('we accept it's wrong, but we also wanted to remain true to the source material.')

of course there was once no such thing as 'Ghostbusters', then Ghostbusters did well. but from a business perspective, would you rather risk a creative's original idea, 'The Colchester Bunch', or would you rather put out 'Muttley & The Wacky Racers: REMEMBER WACKY RACERS???'?

i get why these cartoons were serialised rather than episodic, but i remember when Pokémon came along. it blew my mind because the events took place 'in order', so it's like the characters were actually going on this long adventure. that's totally normal now, both in older anime (that we've all now seen), and in newer Western cartoons.

if there's something they could 'update', IMO it should be that. there's a sense of adventure i get even in a self-contained film like The Mummy or The Phantom Menace: you're following a cast of characters, on a journey TO a place, or returning to previous locations, with characters and items that were established and used appropriately in the story.

when they did 'the big movie' for e.g. Power Rangers, none of it mattered. they stopped Ivan Ooze, nobody mentioned it ever again, they didn't even keep the goddamn suits.

It's the McDonalds marketing method, advertise to them while they're young and they'll keep coming when they're older. All these action figure shows were the McDonalds method of pumping out quick satisfaction.

A Gen X/Old Millennial will see this for the nostalgia rush and then move on to something else until they try rebooting it again.

They don't do this for 90s/00s stuff as much because the shows back then were more experimental and creator driven like Ren & Stimpy or Dexter's Lab, they didn't need a toy line to be memorable and there's not much you can do to reinvent them in a new way.

For me, I'll take the Thundercats™ movie, and the Dino Riders™ movie before they call it quits.

as others have pointed out, nothing is stopping zoomers from making original content, but all they fucking do is eat tide pods, jerk to blacked.com and get scared at empty office buildings

Ironically, Peter Chung worked on both.
He designed April and the Rugrats characters

April and the signature jumpsuit existed in comics before the cartoon, except April had a perm like the 1990 movie

Is it really all israli money laundering?

I would also appreciate if they stopped making those fucking Transformers movies, especially now that Michael Bay is not directing

Elliot Page will play Cheetara.

I don't think any TF movies lost money, but it's certainly the victim of diminishing returns.

I actually watched Thundercats in the 80s when I was 5 and in kindergarten, and honestly even back then it felt a little cringe watching it. What the fuck is next? A fucking Rainbow Brite movie?
Jem and the Holigrams might actually be fucking cool if done right, I'd probably rooting for The Misfits, they're gonna get that bitch one of these days.
Oh shit apparently there was a Jem movie but looks and sounds like it ducks as because it by an uncreative shit director and ignored the source material to try to be a fucking like drama. Fuck that noise. That's not canon and no one saw it, give us a real Jem movie you fuckers!

Thundercats and Robotech are millennial things because of Cartoon Network

Not putting transformers or he man on 1995 Cartoon Network was a massive mistake as if they thought it could make money elsewhere

Try watching the series again now that you aren't 12. Lion-O gets cucked twice. Once by Tygra, then again by Mumm-Ra.

I wish Disney and Warner Bros would go back to their roots ans get their animation studios in order. Anime and stuff lile K Pop Demon Hunters are cleaning up with kids at the box office. Yet domestic animation in the US is stagnant and dead. They could reboot Marvel and DC as a new animated series of well though out theatrical films and shows. Instead we get live action garbage that chucks the source material out the windowm

>>
>>221299713
and one reason for that is that anime often straight up adapted weekly and monthly ongoing series. The pretty much used the comics as storyboards instead of just makingnup a whole new versions of the characters approved by the movie studios.
