I love this movie
She wasn't a terrible casting but the whole film is a contrived hodge-podge of elements from actoss the franchise all rammed together into into a complete mess of a story, each set-piece lesser than the installment it's cribbed from, each one just kinda happening for the sake of it.It all looks really nice, though. Not so much a fan of the giant holograms.

It makes everything that happens nonsensical and really just generic hollywood trash. Why are they searching for the guy now? Why are the bad guys trying to kill the heroes? Oh, because they were taking kids and using their ghosts to put into shells as slaves. YAWN. Fucking hell that's so boring and stupid. And now Major is just some little kidnapped girl forced to be a super soldier and she wants le revenge. They never understood what was interesting about the original Ghost in the Shell story, the puppermaster or Major.

They missed the whole idea of Major being so cyborgized they don't even know if they're human anymore. That they could put Major into any shell and it wouldn't matter. They could put Major into the Spider Tank. The whole thing was supposed to explore the "ghost" and necessarily required scenes showing how weird and inhuman the "shell" is.
