What's one thing the Hobbit movies did better than the book?
Literally nothing, there wasn't one redeeming part of those CGI slop action movies
basically all action sequences are better than the books, including showing ones that weren't in the books. a lot of things that were criticized for being silly in the movies are even sillier in the books. with the exception of going down the river in barrels, which there wasn't action at all in the books just scared dwarves sealed in barrels.honestly I think the hobbit movies were very good and I think the hatred for them is bizarre and I don't relate to it. but I've also only seen the directors cut. the only thing I think the movies did significantly worse than the book was murkwood. everything else was fine or an improvement.

Hes actually much more honorable in the book because he does listen to bilbo when he asked for a raise. It's just when they finally do enter the mountain he was preoccupied looking for the stone but quickly come around as he puts the mithiral cuirass on bilbo, himself no less. Thorin doesn't really fight with a oak shield like the movie shows. Also when thorin first meets bilbo he does sing him a song about how they had to leave the lonely mountian but bilbo doesn't realize it when he asks "what do you like" , thorin throws, "we just sang you a song about it". Later bilbo can hear thorin singing the same song as he tries to sleep.battle of the five armies? in the book bilbo gets hit in the head and hes asleep for everything and its told in a montage. Don't think we needed a whole movie about that.First 2 hobbit movies are pretty good, 3rd is a big stinker.

Thorin is all made at this point because he hasnt found the glowing rock yet and then right as everything is going down gandulf who was hiding in the crowd is like "THE ORCS ARE COMING", then bilbo gets hit in the head and you never see the battle.Really the battle of the five armies is like 2 pages long and you dont see shit and and its stupid they turned it into a movie.
