Watching right nowOn ep2Ep1 was pretty alright. Nice visuals, comedy moments mostly hit and the most important thing is that the gaang is feeling like an actual group of friends now. The zuko and iroh scenes were quite good, they were the best part of last season. Action is fun and weighty. The acting is still a little stilted, as is the dialog, but it's a bit better than season one. Damn okayWell, despite all of the problems with the show, I just watched a scene in episode 6 that was genuinely fantastic and completely original. I did not expect this at all, but it made sitting through the other more mediocre parts worth it. Some actual good dialog, writing, and decent acting. Very surprised this came together and made something good. I'm invested and I did not expect to be in this adaption. Sokka and katara sharing an emotional scene was good and we got some lewd incestuous handholding it felt very together compared to how disorganized the ep 2 was

It's one of the things that give the original that sense of scale. I was questioning the entire time the decisions to put everything in ba sing se, things like the painted lady and stuff. The original addition of toph's parents being JEWS, etc. And at first I was questioning the change in the palace to be a more subtle and understated discussion because the "attack" on the palace by team avatar in the cartoon was one of the best episodes of the show. But the way the CIA glownigger used all of their secrets against them to derail their attempt on the king's help pleasantly surprised me. Ontop of that, it also managed to break down their group. Each of them kept their secrets and that ended up putting walls between them, and all of them had reasons to keep those secrets and to be angry about it. I think the part I liked the most was katara being upset with toph about her parents building war machines for the fireniggers because it could have been them that built the ships which killed her mother. That was a fucking brutal conversation. And all of them being at eachother's throats felt like actual consequences and tension because they worked so well as a group of friends over the course of the season. That argument scene is the best the show has to offer in terms of writing, dialog, story, etc. It just worked and it worked really well. I will say that their reunions in the following episode felt a bit lacking and not as cathartic as it should have been, and that was definitely due to them having to course correct from their original/adaption version back into the familiar ending of book two. I wish there would have been more time of them apart for them to feel the weight of eachother's absence, which was something the original did pretty well, but even in that it should have lasted a bit longer probably. But again, I cannot state just how much the show surprised me with an ACTUALLY GOOD SCENE
