I think the robots were more like his kids in the Joel era, while for the Mike era it was more like retarded roomates. I prefer the Mike one though

>>221364925I got into the show through the Joel era with Godzilla and Ator acting as my gateway drug, and I hated the transition to Mike, and I'm still not huge on Season 5.5 or 6, mostly because of the boring movie selection, but 7 and onward is gold, especially once the Sci-Fi era hit its stride around Giant Spider Invasion (I think one of them even says "Hey, a movie in color!" for that one). The jokes in the Sci-Fi era are more overtly silly, the references are more "modern" (at least for their time), and the bots' whole dynamic as Mike's good-natured tormentors is just too funny. If I'm honest, the more time that passes, the more grating all the boomer references in the Joel era get, despite the fact that I understand most of them now through sheer cultural osmosis.
