The wasted time/lives and realism may be interesting, but the way the story and characters were written and acted was not, imo. Dorff was quite good though. Ali and his relationship never caught on for me. just my take.

I tend to agree with this. Season 2 is the least boring. I think a lot of people give S1 more credit because of the entertainment value of being there in forums while it was airing. But on its own S1 overall kinda mid and slow for the series even though there are some true high points in it.
