There is a reason alternate jurors exist, and those alternates are chosen, in case a selected juror has to drop out, or a juror gets dismissed. Technically, once a jury hoes to deliberation, the alternates are not required to show up, however, an alternate could be called in if a juror is subsequently dismissed. Retrying a case, means the dismissed jury, can individually be questioned on their opinion of the evidence, although jurors are usually told not to discuss the actual deliberation, which is private. Retrying a case would mean calling all the witnesses again, and then having the lawyers be able to cross check with the past testimony. It’s more likely the judge might allow the juror’s argument and evidence, or to instruct the jury to ignore that evidence, since having jurors sit around for a few days is less costly than retrying the case, and the prosecutor, who presented false evidence, can’t really complain.
