I couldnt believe when Jim Carrey plays a Rockstar in that Clint Eastwood movie. It seemed bizarre.
Why did she KHS?

>>221377467Izzy must be one of the strangest and under-prolific musicians of all time. There is no other record with band arrangements like Appetite for Destruction. The album sounds like "just" bluesy hardrock, but once you dig into it, there's really nothing else even close to it. If you look at the LA scene at the time, there's a whole bunch of bands that were doing pretty much the exact same thing -- bluesed up 80s hard rock, Les Pauls, hats, 70s throwbacks, vocalist who screeches and moves weird and sings in multiple registers -- on paper nothing about GNR was unique and it's not surprising that they were initially completely ignored when the album came out, but those arrangements that Izzy was doing for them... completely unheard of. The only tracks on UYI that kind of sound like it were the ones that were written for Appetite (or at least before Appetite came out). Combine that with Axl's extreme musicality and attitude that none of those other similar singers could match and you have a timeless album. That Axl and Izzy never properly colloborated again and that all history has is this one testament of how well they went together is completely insane if you think about how long GNR has been going.
