1. You stole it.2. Give it back
>>221379206stole implies anyone else had anything worth taking to begin with
>>221379206Indians and chinese burnt down their own museums before the British came. Indians destroyed their own temples.
>>221379206no
>>221379266Did the jeets really think that they had anything worth taking? Lmao.
my favourite is when the greeks seethe about some shitty marbles when they were acquired completely legitimatelyalso without british involvement, the modern nation of greece would not exist at all. those greek seethers like to ignore this pesky little fact
>>221379206britain is brown and always was so how can they steal from themselves?
>>221379355mfw the USA is older than Greece. No, a bunch of city-states are not a country.
With how faggy Brits have gotten I'm surprised they haven't sent everything back to rot in whatever leaky cave they first found it.
I don't really care about the legacy of colonialism or whatever but I do hate the british. They should be forced to return everything and then some or else be trade embargoed by the entire world
>>221379397thankfully, no one cares what thirdies think
>>221379206we can't trust you to look after it
>>221379411I'm an American. Kys eurofag
>>221379464Did I stutter?
Give it back to who? Even if we buy the premise and accept that it was stolen the people it was stolen from are long since dead. I don't see why their ancestors are entitled to things they never owned.
>>221379464Exactly, a thirdie
>>221379351They had no unified concept of Hinduism before the Post-Christian British scholars got involved. Literally introduced nationalism, the concept of a Dravidian people, and strengthened Buddhism in certain regions. In short, no. The British told them how cool they were that they were still pagan and they believed them.

>>221379206This guy's Tales of the Raj was used in a class I took. Maybe he's part of the old guard, but not all colonial experiences are equal:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lgVNAb9NLfc
>>221379206The Moors raped my entire bloodline, does that mean I get to rape the entire population of Algeirs?
>>221379396The UK government doesn't like to return foreign things to where they originally came from.
>>221379509back to whatever thirdy country it came from so it can immediately be sold to a collector and never be seen by the public again
>>221379698Kek.
>>2213792061. They can have it back2. They go backseems fair to me
>>221379206I don't like the brits but I'll side with them against nonwhites 1000 times out of 1000.
For the ones that were sold, will the British museums be well compensated by the government receiving the relics back? Most of the time the answer is no and most of the time it goes into a private auction rather than for public viewing in a museum. Sometimes it gets damaged or has to be repaired frequently so it has to be FLOWN BACK to the UK for touch ups and repairs.
>>221379490>>221379514British people can't even afford air conditioning, your country is poorer than the states that americans consider shitholes. The worst part about british people is their totally unwarranted sense of self-importance. Nobody cares about dr. who and british people have near-zero influence on global culture. Kys at your earliest convenience, you child molesting inbred freak
>>221379813>pay for priceless historical artifacts with beads and surplus iron tools>Indians think they're made of some rare enchanted material when it's literally the most common element on earthIt's like trading grandma an Iphone for her precious antiques. You shouldn't be compensated for something you scammed someone to get.
>>221380231It's not a scam if they literally were the ones that proposed what they wanted. It's only seen as a "scam" if you are some kind of omnipotent god that can see 100 years into the future of the value of goods and the state of each parties. There is no trickery involved.
>>221380231Except that's what the Indians saw as valuable as trade with other Indian tribes as well, were they also scamming them?
>>221379825Muttoid melty
>>221380231>something you scammed someone to get.that wasn't a scam, 'historical artifacts' i.e bits of carved wood is not comparable to all the work and effort in mining, smelting and forging a single cooking pot. the red man had no ability to leave the stone age they were in and the White man catapulted them into the modern day leapfrogging tens of thousands of years of technical and material evolution. you're also ignoring the trade of pelts for iron works, something the settlers needed for the far colder winters, would you call that a scam? no because you cant try to spin it into darkie victim yt mean
Kill all browns.
>>221380231>>221380299honestly settlers trading tools for land and cultural items is pretty defensible and shouldn't be returned. If it was excavated from your territory it should be returned though imo, that's straight up theft no matter where it's from
>>221381850Except for those instances where the nation itself is younger than the relic and has been conquered and now wants to claim it for themselves
>>221379206ok, give back modernity
>>221380231do people really not understand that a lot of these objects are only valuable now, because the British bothered to preserve them?>dude, it's Ooga Booga's 500 year old wooden ceremonial mask!>dude, it's a clay pot! This thing has no intrinsic monetary value whatsoever, and probably would have been thrown in a corner and forgotten about
this shit is just ccp propaganda
>>221379266>The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) systematically targeted and destroyed significant portions of China's traditional history and culture, most aggressively during the Cultural Revolution (1966–1976). Launched by Mao Zedong, this decade-long upheaval aimed to purify socialist ideology by eradicating pre-communist traditions.>The Campaign Against the "Four Olds": In 1966, the CCP mobilized student-led paramilitary groups called the Red Guards. They were ordered to violently dismantle the Four Olds: Old Ideas, Old Culture, Old Customs, Old Habits.>Physical and Cultural Destruction: This state-sanctioned vandalism resulted in irreversible losses to global and Chinese heritage:>Artifacts and Literature: Millions of priceless ancient manuscripts, genealogical records, and traditional paintings were burned to ashes. Private homes were raided to confiscate and smash family heirlooms.>Temples and Shrines: Thousands of Buddhist monasteries, Daoist temples, and Confucian shrines were looted, defaced, or entirely demolished.Desecration of >Tombs: Historical gravesites were targeted. For example, Red Guards broke into the Ming dynasty tombs, dragging out and burning the remains of the Wanli Emperor and his empresses.>Eradication of Values: Traditional ethics rooted in Confucianism, filial piety, and religious practices were replaced by rigid loyalty to the Party and Maoist thought.>The Aftermath and Modern Context: The Cultural Revolution left a profound generational void, fundamentally altering Chinese linguistics, social etiquette, and spiritual life. Following Mao's death, the CCP officially designated the period a "10-year catastrophe". While the modern Chinese government has since funded the physical restoration of many destroyed tourist monuments to promote national pride and tourism, independent cultural and religious practices remain tightly regulated under state oversight.
It's much like if Martians came to Earth and wanted Earth artifacts to show people back home, so you traded them your old TV and a can-opener for some shiny Mars rocks, and then 500 years later Martians think the can-opener is priceless, and Earth starts to get pissy about the "wealth" that was "looted" from them.
>>221379825people *can* afford air conditioning. The refuse to get it out of stubbornness.
>>221379206I am assuming this is a BBC show, why not try to actually help the vibes in your country instead? All we need are a bunch of jackwagons, liberals and browns thinking British stole everything and justify whatever crimes they wanted to do.British people want to have this Chinese type of nanny state society but aren't responsible enough to have the authoritarianism to stay in control of it. If you want to make a smart show do it patriotically about how British rescued all this stuff, researched using the immense resources of the British Museum et al, gave a lot back and kept the rest for the safety of future generations.Ironically this would be more controversial and higher ratings.
