I fucking hate dream sequences and hallucinated characters. It's fucking shit story telling. Dreams have just as much to do with moving the plot as taking a piss.

I love the dream sequence in The Big Lebowski

Dreams are cool when they serve a purpose i.e. character's inner turmoil, premontions, etc. They suck when it's just random shit for funzies or shock value. Horror movies have some of the all time worst.

Hallucinated characters feel like a hold over from daytime soaps. Especially when it's characters who have been killed off.

Imagine my shock.
Film is the one format tailor suited to capturing dream. There's a reason why an entire school of thought is film-as-dream.
Your dreams have a run time, have non linear editing, special effects, and scene changes that use audio visual metaphor that your brain links together into a narrative not bound to reality.
