>The same director of the beautiful work of art that is 2001 a space odyssey made this despicable trash...
>>221382845It's definitely his worst film, there's no arguing that.
>the director of pretentious garbage from 1968 made more pretentious garbage in 1971What's so surprising about that?
>>221382845STFU roastie whore
>>221382845If you're revolted by it that was the intent. It's shot in a mixture of cinematic and garish, a slow-mo scene of the droogs walking in slow-mo next to the water but it depicts a vicious surprise attack by Alex on his gang. Or a nightmarish POV of a man watching his wife being stripped to be raped helpless in his own home. Or the ugly artificial nature of the peoples' wigs or broken down public housing that'a been long neglected. Incongruity of styles and content to create discomfort and provoke a reaction from the viewer.
>>221382998It's like the cinematic equivalent of finally throwing up after holding back the vomit for hours. Also the first act is truly incredible.
>>221382998I'm sorry but anyone who enjoys this movie needs to seek help.
>>221382845suck my dick bitch how bout that
>>221383091I wouldn't use the word enjoy. More like being so horrified by it and seeing us as just a few steps away from that awful world. The film succeeds in disgusting you and giving you large early warning signs about societal decay and the danger of people trading freedom and autonomy in many directions to submit to an authoritative state under its false promise of safety and security when in reality it's just another measure of control.
>>221383091yeah its an enjoyable movie, doesn't make you crazy. People like horror movies and they aren't killers
>>221382895Fear and Desire is his worst film by far
>>221384125Anything before Spartacus doesn't count.
>>221384186fear and desire is his best
>>221384186Paths of Glory is a classic
>>221384186Spartacus sucks. >>221384213This. I see it as his first "real" film. And the only emotional one.
>>221384186>>221384336The Killing is a film noir masterpiece and one of Kubrick's best.
>>221382845Are you guys retarded???His worst film? Worse than 2001?I get that it’s an edgy movie but this movie fucking rocks compared to 2001 a space odyssey and his earlier black and white workGet rekt droogIt’s not a perfect movie but the visuals are iconic and so is that synthesizer score
>>221384481I don't like you.
>>221382845I like how pathetic the guy is after his "therapy" The movie almost makes you pity such a sorry creature.
>>221383091The only one who needs to seek help is you for being an art-sanitizing hylic.
>>221384213my favorite of his
>>221384390The Killing is great but just a noir. Good early effort, but I can name noir directors that did just as good. He did it well because he was an aesthetic, which is ultimately what Kubrick is, an aesthete. My Gun Is Quick, Detour, Rififi do it just as well.
>>221382895Full Metal Jacket is is worst studio film.
OP was very badly raped!
>>2213844812001 is the best American film of all time and in contention for the best film ever made.
>>221384866I haven't seen this gif in ages.
>>221382845>came out the same year as Dirty Harry, Straw Dogs and The French ConnectionFascist cinema renaissance.
>>221384840At least FMJ has a good first half.
>>221384826>just a noirNigger I love noir. All the ones you listed also rule, but I would hold The Killing in higher regard. The Big Heat, Force of Evil, Out of the Past, and Kiss Me Deadly all meat a similar standard.
>>221384904I'm elderly :(
>>221384924Hey man, I love noir too. You think I pulled those titles randomly? I respect the genre but it is a relatively formulaic structure and (especially) aesthetic. The Killing is great! Do I think it's in his top 5? Maybe not. But he performed in the genre brilliantly. FWIW my top five are 2001>Clockwork>Lyndon>EWS>FMJ
>>221384186paths of glory is kino
>>221382845Obviously this is a shitpost but sentiments like these exist in the billions unironically. Stop deifying creatives. This is no different than refusing to listen to beautiful music because the musician beat his wife or something. If the same person makes something you hate and something you love, just enjoy the other thing that much more.
>>221382895it's absolutely brilliant, he was at the height of his powers as a director when he made it, it's my favorite film
>>221385447You should watch more movies then.
>>221382845Dark Reddit: The Movie
>>221382845at the time, I'm sure it was shocking. Nowadays, it's less engaging than the average episode of Law & Order SVU.
>>221385485I watch plenty and like the good ones, queer.
>>221385933If that was the case...
>>221384481the only two films that Kubrick made that wasn't wall-to-wall pretentious shit was The Shining and Full Metal Jacket. It still stuns me to this day that there are retards that defend 2001, a film so absurdly anal-fisted with symbolism, people needed to buy a compendium novel to explain what that abhorrent hack couldn't explain in a runtime of almost THREE HOURS.
>>221385981>he doesn't know
>>221385135We're not so different! Honestly, when I say "one of his best" I would apply that metric to most of his filmography. FWIW my top 5 are 2001>Dr. Strangelove>Barry Lyndon>The Shining>A Clockwork Orange
>>221385981what the fucks your problem bro, YOURE pretentious
>>221386222Paths of Glory>Barry Lyndon>Strangelove>Full Metal Jacket. i cant decide on the rest, theyre all so good
>>221382845>>221382895>>221383091Clockwork Orange is Kubrick's best film. It's a pitch perfect satire of modern life in the UK, with highly memorable characters, extremely sharpy, witty dialogue, some of the funniest scenes in all of film, all the while being stunningly shot. Not to mention the amazing soundtrack.
