>Why was she called Pepper?
Pepper Pot, is a soup or stew that typically included beef stock, and some sort of beef, mixed with cassava and or potatoes, and leafy greens, mixed with peppers.
The origin of the recipe may be the Caribbean, or Africa, but there was a distinct version sold in Philadelphia, usually by Women African American street vendors, for a fairly small amount of money, with Ox Feet and tripe bring used as main ingredients.
The dish is notable historically, because George Washington's Army was fed it to prevent starvation while camped outside of Philadelphia in Valley Forge, and the dish is generally considered a patriotic American Heritage dish because of that.

Basically, the name “Pepper Potts” is a “spicy” name, based on a patriotic American food.
