Snyder did better than any other director could have at the time. It's startling how close to the comic this is while still being a coherent film for general audience. The level of subtlety and attention he demonstrated is so unlike him I can barely believe he directed it.
Why haven't other directors tried to make good movies?
>>221384967We can't. We don't know how.
>>221384885And yet at the time it wasn’t popular because it released in a much more competitive market. Every film from that era looks better in retrospect during the dying gasps of cinema as an art form.
>>221384885yeah, the directing of this is top notch
>>221384885Bu far the best superhero movie/comic book adaptation of all time
>>221385052No other superhero movie from that era has aged as well as Watchmen.
>>221385052People expected capeshit, got kino and were disappointed
>>221384885He'd probably do justice to Berserk or BLAME
>>221385052>And yet at the time it wasn’t popularwat? this movie was huge when it came out and was constantly being shown on premium cable channels like cinemax
>>221386600Road to Perdition is a better comicbook adaptation.
>>221384885I thought this movie was a masterpiece when I was a teen and then I had sex. Maybe you should too chud
>>221386772It barely made back its budget not including marketing and the profit split with theatres.
>>221384885It had too many nonsensical slow-mo sections but it was a pretty competent adaptation.
>>221387137The slow motion sex scene to Leonard Cohen was brutal.
>>221387137How were they nonsensical? They made perfect sense capturing comic book panels.
>>221387171>capturing comic book panelsLol, no.
>>221384885I still wish we could've seen what Hayter's version would've looked like. Allegedly it's the only adaptation of one of his stories that Alan Moore has ever given the thumbs up to.

Its funny that the deconstruction to the genre was made before the genre took off
