Happen to you?
>>221386127no, i've never tried since everyone i know is a phone addict that can't go 3 minutes without looking at them.
>>221386127its not you bro, theyre just accustomed to slop. normie shows have to repeatedly, clearly state the story points so these zombies can understand whats happening. just be thankful your not one of them and can appreciate good stories.
>>221386127Nope. I watch movies that I haven't seen with other people
No, my gf is a zoomer who's almost 10 years younger than me and basically never watched anything before we started datingshowing her things she'll like is pretty easy because she's been mirroring my personality since she was a teenager
>>221387151Leonardo Dicaprio posts here?
My ex told me my favorite movie sucked and fell asleep part way through. I remember getting upset and asking what her favorite movie was and she said Breakfast at Tiffany's and I couldn't really have a retort cause that a good flick desu baka
>>221387265leo was doing back when millennial girls were hitting 19/20it's not as impressive with zoomer girls, they've basically unintentionally primed themselves for millennial and older men
>>221387291what movie did you show her? I will decide if she was valid.
I used to do this thing at college where I would host a movie screening in my dorm and would introduce the movie as if I was the movies director. So for example, I remember I did a showing of Jurassic Park and pretended I was Steven Spielberg. It started out with my roommate and this guy from biology class. Word apparently spread and each week I would have more people from college coming in to watch the movie I had picked that week.Well... turns out that people just thought I was really weird and came in to film me and mock me. The school newspaper would do this thing 100 days before graduation where it would all be banter articles having digs at people throughout the campus. That year they had me on the frontpage picturing me as a schizo.Never watching a movie with anyone else ever again.
>>221387265Was it that obvious, anon?
>>221387291What's your favorite movie though, I'm curious how it compares to Breakfast at Tiffany's
>>221386127Yep, and it was a good lesson to learn. I never show anyone my 'favorites'. If they ask, I'll give them a rundown. If they really seem interested? I'll loan them a copy if it's unavailable on streaming but I'll never ever invite anyone to watch one of my favorite film/TV series with me again.
>>221387475Did you dress up as Spielberg? That's the important part. Gotta wear the hat and everything.
yes happened with my ex but i dont blame her cos shes just not into the same shit as me and cant really expect her to be, took that lesson to my new relationship now with my fiance whos 12 years younger than me and honestly would just wait for her to rec a movie or show before i watch with her, last thing we watched together was apocalypto and even tho ive already seen it i watched it again because she wanted to and cant pass up those opportunities to watch kino together
>>221386127>When you show people a movie you loveNever do this only show movies you know your guests will enjoy since you're entertaining.
>>221386127Watched Heathers with a bunch of people. The crowd went from "oh my god you cant say that anymore" to completely ignoring the film. Only one other person was like "shut the fuck up, I'm trying to watch this." Have massive respect towards them to this day.
>>221386127I tried to show my roommate Prestige twice but lacked ability to concentrate whole movie. Guy is probably ADHD since only movies he can watch is some Saw tier gore shit and Fast anf Furious / Maverick / John Wick type action movies.
No one in my life has ever really been that interested in movies. My parents will sometimes watch movies, but they don't care that much. My sister only watches tv. All of the women I've dated haven't had the patience to sit through a movie, but they're somehow fine binge watching the same shit streaming show for longer than any movie.
>>221386127>implying I have friends or acquaintances
>>221388114Probably helps that it's divided into episodes, and of course some shows always have episodes ending with a hook so you gotta find out what's happening next, and you end up watching a lot without realizing it. Movies are paced differently and usually run a couple hours so some people get bored.
>>221386127I purposely recommend people films I know they won't enjoy so they'll think I have really patrician tastes
>>221387151Niggas really just casually admitting toward their crimes on here.
>>221386127
>>221388582The shit people will openly post in the most mass surveilled era in history truly boggles the mind.
>>221387291Breakfast at tiffany's is so fucking creepy. This ugly old farmer marrying and fucking an underage girl is depressing as fuck. And they present it as a light hearted comedy.
>>221387475kek, from the first sentence I was imagining an “eccentric”kinda sad that made you stop forever though
I don't show or recommend a movie to someone if I know they're not going to like them, and if they keep asking I always warn then they might not like it.
>>221386127I'm not that close to my friend group but this doesn't happen why do you guys have retard friends
if my gf (or i) isnt into a movie we stop watching. this is how normal people are, we dont force or expect someone we care about to suffer through something they donr enjoy just because you enjoy it
>>221387475rare pasta
>>221387151groomer
>>221386127I have no one I can show movies to
>>221386127With Roger Dodger when I was a kid.
>>221386127Yes. People don't have any attention span anymore. A lad wanted to watch a war film, so I suggested Zulu. He brought it back after 10 minutes and said it was shit. Even more modern films with snappy editing can bewilder them.
>>221386127I dont have friends to show movies to
Does anybody else just watch movies with full attention and doesn't struggle to concentrate? I really don't get this whole lack of focus thing so many people seem to struggle with.
>>221386127Every time this is posted, I point out how narcisisstic this mentality is: you want them to watch the movie and enjoy the movie exactly how you do.
>>221386127someone who stares at you waiting for a reaction while you guys watch something is just as bad as someone who can’t get off their phone. I’m not putting on a performance for you asshole.
>>221388068Where is the hope for normies if they can't watch a movie as simple as the prestige? >>221388014Or heathers? Like holy fuck
I stopped doing that when I was around 18. I prefer watching movies and tv shows alone. I will only watch it with people that really know about cinema and will give me a reasonable and interesting.
>>221386127I only recommend or give film suggestions for films I think other people will like, not necessarily my favourites, because I dont need other people to validate my opinion on a film.
>>221389985I can watch a movie all the way through and don't struggle to focus, but I'm 34 and not perpetually on social media. Phone addiction is a real thing.
>>221388014>The crowd went from "oh my god you cant say that anymore" to completely ignoring the film. This makes me sad. Imagine watching some film and all you are analyzing is whether or not it would be "acceptable", whatever that means, to say certain words/phrases today.
>>221386127I remember I had liked Inherent Vice when it came out and wanted my gf to watch it with me, but after like 20 or 30 minutes I was beginning to realize my taste has improved a pretty considerable amount since then, and that it was actually a pretty bad movie, and so I asked her if she was enjoying it, and she said she wasn't, and since I wasn't either we just turned it off. It was an eye opening experience for me.
>>221390218>I dont need other people to validate my opinion on a filmmost people are not that sigma unfortunately
>>221389769Oh it is. I thought you were doing that thing where people accuse something of being a copypasta or fake even though you can check in a second and find out it's not. But this has only been posted 14 times and the last time was over two years ago.
>>221386127Go get your empathetic endorphins from someome else, not me.I really relate to being passionate about something and having no one to show, though
>>221386127>recommend something to a friend>"no bro it's all shit">2 months later "hey I watched this, got recommended by a youtuber" - that was the same one I told him to watchSince then I never ever recommended anything
>>221390256I've never seen Heathers (I probably should since I like the actors), what is in there that people would say "you can't say that anymore" about?
>>221390019I thought The Prestige was famous for being hard to follow
>>221388582>>221388678>>221389809>sexless gen z males: i cant breeeeeed!!
>>221386127yeah. back when I was still LARPing as a normie we used to get together and watch movies with couple of buddies. when it was my turn to choose I played Boogie Nights, hoping that the sex stuff will keep people interested initially and then PTA's magic would kick inthey talked over the whole time and 15 mins later wanted to stop it and we played 28 Days Later instead, despite the fact that everybody in the room had already seen it before
>>221387639Avengers: Age of Ultron
>>221388582crime?
>>221386127Tried showing my ex gf Breaking Bad. About midway through season 2 she claimed to lose interest and wanted to stop watching. She said that there's no tension because she knows there's more seasons after that so obviously Walter wasn't gonna die till near the end. Personally I think she was just being petty because I didn't like Sense8.
My friends brother was so sad we didn't like 'The Legend Of Cougar Canyon'.No idea why it was so important to him but that kid was fucking DOWNTRODDEN we weren't watching.
>>221391889In all fairness Boogie Nights is a long long ass movie with not nearly as many sexy scenes as you'd expect from a story about the early days of the porn industry. Also depending on the friend group vibes you may have been making them uncomfortable putting on a movie so primarily about sexThat said I busted many a nut to Julianne Moore asking Marky Mark to cum in her.
>>221391481This shit pisses me the fuck off the most.
>>221386127I stopped watching movies with zoomers for this reason, they just can't put the phone downAbsolutely cursed generation.
>>221391889My mother has a habit of doing this too sort of>Some kind of kino on>Tell her what it's about>Says it sounds good so she'll record it and watch it later>Never watches it>Can guarantee it'll be Jaws, Misery, or The Outlaw Josey Wales she'll end up watching instead
>>221387475I have pedophilic memory and I remember this pasta
>>221386353Hello zoomer fag.
>>221389985normies are incapable of sincerely engaging with art and narrativeshort form slop on their phone is ok, as you can just scroll to the next thing if your attention isn't piqued
>>221386127i dont like movies that much, they're just there to pass the time and then i do something else.
>>221392158>The Outlaw Josey Walesthe first half is so good
>>221387298No they haven't, every 19-22 year old I come across their first fucking question is always >wait how old are you?And they think I'm in my early 20s but I'm 31, we can be talking for weeks and everything is going well then they see my age and they freak out.
>>221391896You're literally sexually assaulting a child, she was only 25 you sick fuck
>>221386127Many, many times. Know those feels bro. Normies gonna normie.
>>221388582Is that a HECKING AGE GAP? Call the inquisition! Lmao you zoomies are pathetic.
>>221386127What about the opposite?Having someone who never, ever, cared about star wars before and thinks all fantasy and scifi are dumb get mad when you say you don't like Disney Star Wars "WTF dude it's STAR WARS!"
>>221392449Made a dickhead of myself. It's Unforgiven not Josey Wales that she always watches.
>>221386127>no you don't have to pause, I'll come right back
>>221391837Generally all Nolan films are confusing on first watch. He admitted this and hoped people like his movies so much that they watch them multiple times for clearance.
>>221391378>this has only been posted 14 timesNow you know what you must do.
>They liked Crank>Put on hardcore henry>"Duuude this is like a video game lmao, this is so fucking dumb"
>>221386127All the time.Mainly with Mad Max: Fury Road.
I rented Shin Godzilla when visiting my parents way back when, brought fancy snacks and everything. We used to watch godzilla movies when I was a kid and Shin Godzilla was my second favorite at the time.My parents and my brother.... were quite literally snoring, snoring HARD about 20 mins in
>>221394531Tough to find a crowd for that movie, even though I agree it's kino. Minus One seems more easily understandable for such a situation.
>>221386127The reverse, she pointed out how in the Mummy they talk about that the scarabs will devour you over a long period of time but then get used as a random death trap that instantly kills
