Stromberg was good, some political cabaret was holding up, some small original formats on late night spots on the federal regional stations were happening from time to time, like Straßenstars and some actual German filmmakers and their work were featured on and off in a late night spot on the public channels, things you'd rarely find outside festivals, I guess. I discovered Oscar Roehler's stuff this way, to name one of the few, before his film making turned to shit. Nobody in their right mind or worth acknowledging in any way watches TV anymore. Ah, yes and I guess the documentaries and "Verbraucherschutz" reporting still hold up. The streaming platforms of the public channels is the only way to watch any TV from here like an actual human being and feature hidden broadcasting gems from time to time (if rarely) and also finally enable you to watch at least some of the foreign stuff in their OV and subs. The private channels have become an unbearable unwatchable shitshow with commercials synchronized across channels and adds popping up during the shows/movies. Not to mention that their "infotainment" shit tier programming is also implementing literal AI slop by now (and so are commercials). Let it all just fucking burn. Arte (German/French collab project and cultural flagship) is literally the last bastion of hope, quality and sanity (at least where its cultural content is curated by the French editorial team- and I say that as someone who hates the French like the next person). It will hopefully expand to more international inter-euro colabs like I've recently heard, what with the focus tp move away from the economical/cultural hegemony of the US under Trump.
