How did these two manage to turn from a 12 year old girls favourite actor to the average 30 year old males favourite actor?
>>
Because they are Me.
>>
I don't like ryan gosling

pattinson is inoffensive so far
>>

>from a 12 year old girls favourite actor
the goose wasn't a teenage heartthrob
>>
>>221389230
How so?
>>
>>221389237
Notebook was big with teen girls
>>
>>221389250
very late teens maybe
no teenage girl had notebook posters in their room
it's nothing compared to twilight
>>
You ever see the study where it said a dislike of women is strongest in men who had the most dating success and the very least? Thats why
>>
>>221389207
I dont like either of these fags
>>
>>221389275
Obviously but I remember it being big with girls when gosling was known before his oscar type roles/literally me roles
>>
>>221389230
Ryan was based until he bogged himself, but Project Mary has redeemed him (saar). Gosling is now based again, until proven otherwise.
>>
>>221389207
Because they can act. They are both attractive, but they are also fairly good at what they do. Gyllenhall, Pitt, the younger Affleck have a similar thing going on.
>>
>>221389363
Casey affleck is a teenage heartthrob? I thought women hated him
>>
not so sure patton is favored by guys, but goose started out as a heartthrob in chick flicks like the notebook, then he made a right turn to starring in action movies like drive, which appeal more to men
>>
>>221389207
drive and the lighthouse imo
>>
>>221389363
30 year old here. They're gay and I don't like em.
>>221389363
All those actors are gay.

Sean Connery, Jack Nicholson, Nic Cage, those are my guys.
>>
>>221389207
31 y/o here. I like Goose because for a while he would pick pretty solid projects. I don't care so much for his more recent filmography but he does scratch a literally me itch often and he kind of looks like me too. Pattinson seems like a swell guy but has a weaker filmography imo.
I tend to like underrated actors who don't get much mainstream work nowadays like Clive Owen or Aaron Eckhart. I miss Philip Seymour Hoffman and Anton Yelchin. /tv/ memes on him, but Heath Ledger was also pretty good. Bruce Lee's kid was a better actor than he ever was too.

literally me
>>
>>221389207
Thanks for reminding me I still need to see Lighthouse
>>
>>221389207
I like that they pick weird but varied roles. Daniel Radcliffe is my third guy on this teen girl actor pipeline.
>>
>>221389534
>Pattinson seems like a swell guy but has a weaker filmography imo.
Surprisingly true. Pattinson should really be doing more films than he has.
>>
>>221389534
Has Clive Owen actually been in anything good since that short run he had in the mid 00s?
>>
>>221389584
Based.
>>
>>221389237
>the goose wasn't a teenage heartthrob
kys you short term memory freak.
>>
>>221389207
Pattinson way always a good actor and a cool dude who was (unfortunately) in the chickest flick of all chickflicks and Gosling got extremely lucky with Drive
>>
>>221389917
>(unfortunately)
he made bank and that's what allowed him to be selective after twilight
>>
>>221389937
you don't have to tell me, I actually respect Twilight for what it is and if it was a dude flick (goth girl and brown-ish tomboy fighting for some friendless nerd) it would be /tv/ classic, but it took years for Pattinson to shake the "lol sparky vampire" image and be seen as serious actor
>>
>>221389989
he made cosmopolis right after
>>
>>221389230
>I don't like ryan gosling
That's OK anon, I don't like you either. I'm not Ryan btw.
>>
Both of them had such a kino string of projects after their teengirlhearthrob phase
But they both fucked up by agreeing to work on Hollywood slop like Batman and Star Wars
Also Lost River is severely underrated

Here's the real answer...

Age plays a massive role in this. You'll notice that most of the men who look up to these two actors are younger than they are. These actors are in their 40s, and the guys who admire them tend to be younger. But if those same men were older than the actors, they probably wouldn't look up to them. In fact, they might even look down on them.

Think about it this way: if you're in your early 30s, do you look up to good-looking male actors in their early 20s? No. In your h ead you might even think "who's this fucking guy?". And when those actors reach their 30s and 40s, you're still older than them and you will not look up to them.

This isn't unique to actors...it applies to musicians and many other public figures as well. We naturally tend to look up to people who are older than us, while we're generally less inclined to admire people who are younger. We can have respect for those younger than us sure if we are gonna be more mature about things. But the reason why guys praise certain other guys and hate on others is often because of age. This is massive within music.. especially rock and metal. yet they don't even realize it.

Music example: Kurt Cobain - those younger than him at the time looked up to him, those older than him looked down on him - "who the fuck does this guy think he is?", "pretentious", etc. Jealousy and envy is a part of it too.

They can actually act and choose some really interesting projects alongside mainstream movies
