What I like is that John's foster parents seemed to have absolutely no interest in being foster parents. Like, I get the implication was John had worn them down through his rebellious behaviour, but it came across more like they were his aunt and uncle who had been forced to take him in, rather than people who had actively applied and jumped through hoops for the opportunity to get this kid.
