>After taking a tour bus to Universal Studios, a chance conversation with an executive led to Spielberg getting a three-day pass to the premises. On the fourth day, he walked up to the studio gates without a pass, and the security guard waved him in: "I basically spent the next two months at Universal Studios ... that was how I became an unofficial apprentice that summer." He applied to the University of Southern California's film school but was turned down because of his mediocre grades. In 1968, Universal gave Spielberg the opportunity to write and direct a short film for theatrical release, the 26-minute 35mm Amblin'. Studio vice president Sidney Sheinberg was impressed and offered Spielberg a seven-year directing contract. A year later, he dropped out of college to begin directing television productions for Universal, making him the youngest director to be signed to a long-term plan with a major Hollywood studio.

Crystal skull was a mid life crisis for harrison ford, steven and george lucas. they all can’t deal with the fact they got told, so they thought they could replicate the magic of the original three and set it up for new indie series, but we all know how that turned out.

It ended when he became more of a businessman than a filmmaker. He achieved the highest success in the 80s, so there was no more drive to create big hit movies like Jaws and ET, he had been to the peak of the mountain, there was no reason to go back. So he started Dreamworks and became a businessman. He tried to do films as the years went on but he had grown up.

Its like a 80s rock band that was huge trying to make an album now....its guaranteed shit compared to their younger days when they were hungry for success.

i don’t blame them, im already 34 and have a 75 year old father who is refusing to retire, despite his leg being fucked. i feel like when i turn 60 im going completely insane. like i might go to space or climb mount Everest

He's not hungry and driven like he was when he was younger. It really shows, and has effected his work.

True, but it's not a SPIELBERG movie like Indiana Jones, Saving Private Ryan, Close Encounters, Jews, Jurassic Park, etc. Anyone could direct "Catch Me" without anyone being able to tell a difference. His absolute worst one was Tin Tin. The directing sucked so much that it genuinely shocked me to see he directed it.

you’re not going to believe this…
