I'm interested in how writers decide punishments for villains. In some movies and shows the villain is sent to an eternity of fiery buttfucking, and in others they get off completely Scot-free.Are there examples that you can think of that made you think "Wow, they really didn't deserve that"?
Compare the movie "Send Help" with the last two Joker movies, it's not up to the writers

The bad guy in part 4 gets sentenced to an eternity of reincarnating to a point immediately before he's going to die, dying, then coming back again over and over, for eternity. Sure, he was an asshole, but that seems pretty rough.
