Why /tv/ doesn't like musicals?
>>221396676Because they are fast food operas, trivial musically and plot-wise. Tickets cost a ton, and with ACTUAL composers like John Adams, you can watch modern-day stories in outright operas, too.
Because the songs usually suck
>stage musicalsfuck off this is /tv/>tv musicals like Glee and Smashtheyre just kinda gay ok
>>221396676>Why /tv/ doesn'tthe best part about ESLs is they have no idea how obvious they make themselves
They're one of the worst vehicles for telling a decent story and people who like musicals are usually the worst human beings imaginable (troons, theater kids, gay guys, etc.)
For me, It's Phantom of the Paradise
>>221396676Love the classic ones. New ones are shit consistent with all new movies being shit. DEI casting, zero narrative, filters and darkness, Botox faces, inane dialogue...

i went to see the book of mormon on stage without knowing a single thing about it and had a great time
>>221397147>Love the classic onesYeah, some of them are goodhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QgVPnWmUqd4
They always have that "Broadway" vibe. Mummy's little performer is going to come out and sing his showtune.
As others have said, some of the classical ones are good. I'll always love The Wizard of Oz. They work in a Disney movie, as you can be nonsensical about things and it just flows (Hakuna Matata, Be Prepared)The problem is they often don't make the movie better, and can hurt it if the writing and characters are good on their own. Then I'm just sitting there waiting for the song top ass to continue the narrative. I don't want to get invested into a serious story only for the characters to break into a song.It works on a stage play. It works in a kids movie. I don't want it in a regular movie.
>>221396676Does anyone else think young Barbara is extremely sexo for some reason?
