https://www.rollingstone.com/tv-movies/tv-movie-features/supergirl-interview-making-of-screenwriter-director-1235584675/>The interesting thing is, I didn’t go back and look at anything of Supergirl before the meeting. I just read [Ana’s] script, and I put together this 120-page visual deck of what I wanted the world to be just off of the script. I didn’t even look at Tom King’s comic. I just wanted to do something that I was excited about. It was very gritty and dark, and you could just feel the dirt and the grime, and just being on the fringe of this alien world with the poverty and the crime. I went down this rabbit hole of what that visual idea was to me. And then also, literally the first thing in the meeting was, “I don’t want her to put on the superhero outfit for long as possible… until she’s emotionally ready to take that on.” And they signed off on all of it.HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
why do these people act like they're making high art?they're making slopfocus on making GOOD slopthe approach is entirely different from making good art
I'll check the movie in 30 days when it releases on streaming
>>221401325I'll watch it in like six months to a year on a day when I don't feel like watching anything from my backlog.
>>221401344It can't be that bad, anon...
I’ll check the movie in 30 kalpas when it is made by talented people
>>221401364It can, but either way I'm so disinterested in it that I only care enough to see it when I don't feel like doing anything else at all.
I will watch it for 5 minutes when it hits Saturday evening network movie marathon and then switch the channel to National Geographic
>>221401224All they had to do was make Supergirl tragic. The only levity they needed was Krypto and Mamoa. Supergirl could have been so good. And removing most of the stupid music would have helped. Gunn did a great job with GotG 3. Rocket Racoon (silly name) had a great/tragic backstory. For whatever reason they were unable to recreated that with Supergurl. The movie isn't as bad as 4chan/internet is saying. But they really missed the mark. They really ruined the movie with the music and general tone. I was really expecting this movie to make my bitch-ass cry. It did not make me cry.
>>221401595also getting an actress for the job thbat doesnt look retarded and is actually attractive.she has a really ugly face and this ruins the movie.

>hire someone who doesn't actually want anything to do with the character or materialWhy do they keep doing this? Whether it's dc, marvel, some video game adaptation, or Star wars.... Why do you hire people who don't actually like what they're making?
>>221401778I don't care about her looks. Just make her a foil to Clark.
>>221401817>Why do they keep doing this?Humiliation ritual
>>221401224Did you want to discuss the movie or just type haha like some discount joker?

>>221401224That sounds fine. What's the problem?

I saw it last night, and I went in wanting to like it but its just bad on its own merits, rather than being due to wokeness or whatever. Its edited like absolute shit, looks like trash with terrible CG and the brown/grey sludge palette capeshit has all the time, no jokes land, Supergirl doesn't look the part nor does she work a as a lead and is a charisma vacuum, the dialogue is a chore and apes Gunn's successful projects as an unfunny imitation. It also ends with Supergirl executing the villain with a sword, which was frankly just bizarre and tonally deaf (also she pontificates about the morality of murder to her companion and tells her not to avenge her parents by killing the villain, only for her to stab him herself after the girl walks a few paces away). Its just shit
>>221401824The best leaks of the century
>>221401224Good morning sir.
>>221401926russos definitely raped before
>>221401955>It also ends with Supergirl executing the villain with a sword, which was frankly just bizarre and tonally deafFaggot complaint. More capeshit should end with the hero just slaughtering the villain
You guys reckon WB's just gonna go bankrupt? They've already merged with Paramount to save themselves but their brand new cinematic universe already looks dead on arrival. I guess Dune can prop them up? But Villeneuve leaves after Part Three and after Messiah the Dune books get... weird, in potentially audience-alienating ways.
>>221402061Dumb tranny
>>221401824Who tf was taking the picture
>>221401955>It also ends with Supergirl executing the villain with a sword, which was frankly just bizarre and tonally deaf (also she pontificates about the morality of murder to her companion and tells her not to avenge her parents by killing the villain, only for her to stab him herself after the girl walks a few paces away). There's nothing wrong with the hero knowingly making the morally incorrect choice. Tired of every movie always doing the "if you kill the bad guy you're just as bad as them" tired ass trope.
>>221402091>Who tf was taking the pictureLove, Anon. Love.
>>221401224>I don’t want her to put on the superhero outfit for long as possibleWhy are Superhero movie still doing this?
>>221402061WB is a hot potato that gets passed around because every studios thinks THEY are the ones who will totally turn WB around and make bank on their IPs.
>>221401224>write a story more suited for guy gardner or someone>insert supergirl>instant flop
>>221401224>I didn’t even look at Tom King’s comic. And yet the film still sucked shit.
>>221402094Weird how all the media made by the universally reviled for 5 millenia group of people keep telling us not to kill the bad guys.
I liked the director Craig Gillespie but he fucked up since Cruella. He'll always have I Tonya and Lars and the Real Girl at least...
>ana nogueirawho?>check his ONLY other writing creditOH NONONONONONONONONONON
DC movies are a solved issue. Snyder already laid it out cleanly. DC movies historically bomb whenever they attempt cheap comedy, that runs back all the way to the 80s. So for Gunn to focus on cheap comedy and also F tier heroes when TSS already bombed was indicative of the DCU and it’s no surprise the second movie collapsed outright.
>>221401224>And they signed off on all of itBravo Gunn!
I liked it.
No wonder James Gunn got exposed as a Larper when he was shilling Rick Flag just now
>>221401224This is actually Gunn's fault. Its his universe.Remember when there was a slight incoherance between synder's justice league and the aquaman movie and people were unhappy?>>221401442so this is the very definition of performance reading?
>>221402453Didn't know Snyder said that but yeah that's exactly what i want from DC
>>221401224The problem with DC is that they try to pander to Marvel's audience, even though their target demographic is seven-year-old children.
>>221402819read the comics then
>>221402047>>221402094My mistake, I don't think she shouldn't have killed the child trafficking bandit guy but the way its done is so bad. She goes on a rant about how murder is bad and you shouldn't kill because it continues the cycle of violence, all that gay shit. Then does a 180° and guts him with a sword. Its just goofy and terrible, especially when its a ape-looking girl in a supergirl outfit holding a $2 plastic sword. I didn't have any issue with Superman killing Zod in Man of Steel but many people seem to hate that.
