I don't get this show. It just seems retarded with no logic to it at all. People seem strangely emotional about it when you rightly point out how low the quality the show is.

It's just goofy fun that doesn't take it's stupid children's concept seriously. Crazy, I know.
>>
>>221401779
>It's intentionally retarded, join in on the inside joke!!!
>>
If you ever watched it as a child it has its charm. If you watch it as an angry cynical adult, then yes of course all its flaws are gonna stand out like a sore thumb.

It's a part of the New French Extremity movement. Join us on /film/ to discuss this matter further.

Angry little faggot lmao

if you pretend to be retarded for long enough then you're not really pretending anymore
>>
YOU DON'T GET IT. IT'S SO BAD IT'S GOOD!
>>

Always funny to see zoomers think boomers didn't have such a thing as comedy until the 2000's and that batman back then was taken as seriously as you take modern super hero movies.
It reminds me of the kids that make fun of old people commenting on AI pictures and videos, not realizing those comments are also bots
>>
My dad found it entertaining as a 6-10 year old and finds it endearing as an older man now . It was a fun comedy show for kids. What's there to get.
>>
>>221402540
Zoomers think it's literally as serious as the latest Batman movie and that people back then were really on the edge of their seats and taking it super seriously like kids do today
>>

My dad had VHS tapes of it. I have very vague memories of watching it when I was about 4-6 yrs old and I remember liking it and getting excited over the dumb cliffhangers. It was a fun show. Angry anons calling it stupid is like taking Spongebob seriously.
>>
Now I get it. It's "supposed" to be terrible os you can laugh at how low quality it is.
>>
>>221401738
It's a really clever show.
>>
>>221402813
I forgot that zoomers have no sense of humor and are incapable of getting this.
>>
>>221402868
Oh we get it, but 'look how stupid this is' isn't funny to us. We want actual wit.
>>
>>221402884
Ya this. Zoomers need real social commentary like Back Rooms and Obsession

its called camp
back when this show was made batman was not a grounded character, that shift happened later in the century, especially in the early 90s with btas
understand that the primary cultural influences on children back then were things like radio dramas and the circus, rather than anime and toy commercials
so most comic book characters were originally very colorful and theatrical, something the show did a very good job emulating, not out of spite or mockery but in genuine reverence for
it is ok to like goofy things

It does take its stupid concept seriously and that's why it's good. It lacks the insincerity of the whedonshit era.
>>

First of all, Frank Gorshin mogged everyone else on that show with his performances, including Adam West
The 1966 movie is a lot of fun and seems to handle the concept better
The show loses a lot of steam after the first season and I'm surprised it lasted so long
If they balanced the camp with actual character development the way the Burton movies and animated shows did, it would have been way better

>People seem strangely emotional about it
had a cousin that was really into this show, he's kinda retarded like into WWF retarded. not unable to function in society, just the regular kind of retarded.
seems to be a trend with people into this show
>>
It’s a comedy but constantly gets criticised by people who don’t seem to click with the humour and thinks it’s serious

quintessential based retard

The 1960's were before my time. When I was a kid in the 90's I use to watch the 1960's Batman TV series in re-run form, and it was way to cornball for me to really enjoy. Especially since I was spoiled by Batman: The Animated series. I would watch it anyway. Batman 1966 seems to be on par with other 1960's shows from the same time frame. It was an era where everyone was probably wigged out on psychedelics and shit. Get Smart was a better show.

It's Silver Age camp but began Batmania. Obviously nowadays it doesn't hold much value but eh
Still better than Reeves Batman.
