Which director could do Kingdom Come justice?
>>221401813Looking at Watchmen, Man of Steel, Batman v Superman, and (Zack Snyder's) Justice League, Snyder would be the obvious choice. Other than him, I could see George Miller do a fantastic job.
>>221401813Fincher
>>221401813Robert Eggers
>>221401813Robert Rodriguez, James McTeigue, Ang Lee maybe ....>>221402203He would work better with Batman, just like del Toro
>>221401813Whoever directs cocomelon or some other show for babies. Earth-X>Kingdom Come
>>221402327>Robert Rodriguez, James McTeigue, Ang Lee maybe ....Come on, man. I get you were going for "obscure" choices, but the movie would turn out total shit with those. Could've at least said Stephen Norrington.
>>221402327I was about to say something like "I would like to see a Robert Rodriguez Punisher movie." But then I realized I already have, and everyone should go watch the El Mariachi movies again instead of capeshit.
>>221401813The right person for the job doesn't exist. The directors who might fit the bill are either dead, or too old and past their prime to do it justice now.
I don't know how you adapt Kingdom Come into a movie, unless it ends up being 'Kingdom Come In Name Only'. You'd be forced to drastically reduce the supporting cast, effectively making its world much, much smaller. Now, if all fans want is a movie with old Superman and old Batman, that's a different thing.
>>221401813>do Kingdom Come justiceDon't. Seriously. The entire point of Kingdom Come is to be a swansong of an older era. There is no way you're going to copy that gorgeous alex ross artwork onto screen either, at best you'd get some god awful digital color correction and CGI sets with lighting that doesn't match anything else. Its also ABOUT comics, and the place they have in a changing more violent extreme reality. Just like watchmen, the best parts of the comic are because they know how to fully utilize the medium. The pirate story in watchmen is good because its a comic inside of a comic, and its existence is because its a world where we had superheroes, so didn't need that kind of fantasy in our comics, but the story in the story is underlining motivations and the meta-narrative of the larger story (what fear and paranoia can make you do). The interstitial mixed-media in between issues where you get an excerpts from things in universe that join together like puzzle pieces later. And then just the art itself is doing the heavy lifting of the story. Trying to lift that 1 for 1 loses a lot of the point of the damn thing in the telling. Kingdom come also works because its a story with almost a century of momentum behind it. Its the "End" of the DC universe, which doesn't work when, to-date, the DC cinematic universe has been the original Reeves and Keaton Superman and Batman movies, some animated stuff, but cinematically has been an unmitigated trainwreck of incompetence, corporate meddling, and a lack of confidence in their own proven property. Kingdom Come makes you nostalgic for what has passed, but theres no reason for anyone to be nostalgic about the DC movies. And Marvel put the bow on everything well enough with infinity war and endgame, and no one would miss anything that came after. So yes, Kingdom Come is great, everyone should go read it, you can find it for free online with google in 30 seconds or less. It doesn't need to be a movie.
>>221401813it goes beyond the director, it would need a lot of time to set the stage, the right casting, a proper runtime or maybe make it two movies and to actully adapt all of the eventshonestly to me is overhyped, you are better off adapting smaller arcs but im also biased because i hate anything that pairs wondy and supes
>>221401938>>>221401813 (OP)>Looking at Watchmen, Man of Steel, Batman v Superman, and (Zack Snyder's) Justice League, Snyder would be the obvious choice. Other than him, I could see George Miller do a fantastic job.This. Or Matthew Vaughn would also be a good choice.
>>221401813Unironically Sneeder but he needs someone as a tard wrangler to keep it a straight forward adaptation
>>221403458Snyder has said he doesn't like superman much as a character. There is no way he could handle superman having to be the last light of decency and reason in a cruel bleak world. He had two fucking movies and he evolves from man of murder to man of murder who suddenly seems chill next to the dark knight batman. Which again, that damn batman story is so good because its a reflection on the history of batman to that point, and putting him in an awful future where he has to remind everyone of what a hero looks like. You can't fucking START there for your cinematic universe. Same problem I have with them introducing multiverse shit so early. That was a necessity in the comics because you had decades and decades of continuity that can't all actually fit because batman would now be in his 90's, and somehow golden age superman and silver age superman are the same dude. Eventually you tell every story you can, and run into so many self imposed walls that you don't have any other option but to start introducing a multiverse to try and keep things tidy. But Marvel and DC both sit on a mountain of stories for all these characters that range from Legitimately great stories that elevate the medium, to solid fun plots/arcs, to dumb silly shit, and then outright trash. And they've barely scratched the surface of any of that source material for inspiration so WHY dive in balls deep like marvel and DC both did. Its extra funny with marvel because they were off the block too fast, and if they had just cooled off on the MCU for a while while the fox acquisition happened, and then released a movie about a multiversal incursion that lets them fold the X men and Fantastic four back into the continuity, and letting you soft reset everything and start your Nu-MCU with a fantastic four movie where they're the first family, and then a movie introducing the mutants and x men, and then various avengers showing up to be re-established with new/legacy characters.
>>221403634>There is no way he could handle superman having to be the last light of decency and reason in a cruel bleak world. You're so utterly retarded, it blows my mind. That's basically what he is in Batman v Superman.
>>221403711>That's basically what he is in Batman v Superman. That's my point exactly. Snyder's superman is basically magog already.
