When is this capeshit trend of superhero movies made by people who actually hate superhero fiction going to die?
>>

i dunno. who's giving them free money? ... besides USAID and the usual le juices of western-bollywood. well i guess Bezos-Amazon is funding this kinda crap too.

It's not just capeshit.
In general studios are IP obsessed, dumping gazillions of dollars into "safe bets" which haven't been safe for years.
As a result, until very recently when there have been a few exceptions (and barring lottery winners like Eggers) anyone trying to break into Hollywood as a writer, producer, or director needs to do an IP project. Both to make ends meet and to get their foot in the door of the industry.
So you have a generation of faggy moviemakers / tv people / actors / etc. who are 'stuck' working on projects they either don't give a shit about or actively despise.
>want to make some queer character study about some generic brown woman who fights the patriarchy and discovers that she was actually the best and brightest all along
>no one will greenlight your faggy arthouse project
>get hired for snow white
>just change snow white into the thing you actually wanted to make, ripping on how lame the original was all the while
This has happened over and over. Witcher, Rings of Power, Capeslop, Star Wars, Wheel of Time, the list goes on and on (though TV is slightly more rife with this problem).
These people all resent working on these big corporate IPs so they just make garbage that they like instead, and the suits are too retarded to tell when it's happening until the bottom line spikes red.

>this will sell our movie
>>
Why the fuck do you NOT hate superhero fiction?
>when are studios gonna stop making superhero movies?
When they no longer need to launder money and can just use whatever crime funds they have freely.

There is a dystopian angle with modern business where the new school just dump endless tides of money into failing concepts, doubling down every single time it fails until so many people and firms are on the line that they will bullshit justifications to make it a 'success' because otherwise everyone will lose their ass.
We've seen it with VR and AI, and we see it to a lesser extent in media.
Consider this parable:
>your buddy from school says he's gotten his pilot's license and will fly you to some tropical paradise
>you and the other homies agree, plan (and spend a shit ton of money) on an awesome vacation
>3 hours into the 1.5 hour flight you see snow on the ground out the window
>You try to correct your buddy 'Nigga this doesn't look like Bermuda, are you lost'
>Pilot buddy freaks the fuck out, says he'll just crash the plane and kill everyone if you don't compliment his flying
>Everyone sheepishly agrees and says he's doing a great job, actually
Current media is 6 hours into that 1.5 hour plane ride, praying to whatever gods they believe in that somehow the fucking plane lands somewhere before it runs out of fuel and the whole thing crashes down.

Capeshit IS dying. Nobody cares about these movies. Superman (2025) made less money than Man of Steel (2010) did. They are making bigger and bigger budget movies and having flops. Marvel has had flop after flop after flop and Doomsday is literally their hail mary throw to save the dying franchise. If it fails, and it most likely will, we won't see capeshit for a long time.

When in history could you even make a supergirl movie that people would want to see? The 80's one also bombed. I don't see one fitting into the previous DC universe of movies. They were dumb for making it.
>>

>people who actually hate superhero fiction
So ... grown adults?
>>
>>221407339
Never. Supergirl should just be a side character like Hawkeye or Hulk in the MCU who never got a stand alone movie (in the MCU at least).
>>
>>221407339
Supergirl isn't a draw because of a few obbious reasons. One and this is the most obvious to anyone with a beluga whale's level of intelligence, she is a SUPPORTING character to Superman. She has no villains of her own people care for, nor supporting characters or setting. She is meant to support Clark and bounce off him in stories, usually ones with the whole fish-out-of-water angle or dealing with krypton. Thats it. Secondly, her character is just a brash, teenage farmgirl most of the time. A protagonist at bare minimum for these kinds of action movies needs to be seen as trustworthy, capable, endearing, level-headed which Kara is not. Because again she is a supporting character.

They are just taking out low interest loans against the IP they are keeping just barely alive to gobble up other studios to increase their valuation so the execs can cash out there shares before it crashes
>>
superhero fiction is shit
>>
>>221407299
Doomsday is going to make a gorillion dollars and keep this shit going forever
>>
>>221407387
Bingo. Meanwhile everyone who loses the game of chicken is going to completely lose their ass.
And the slop will keep churning out.
>>
>>221407377
The only scenario I can see a Supergirl central movie being fun is if it was a Legion of Superheroes thing since it would be an excuse to feature a bunch of weird shit, but that would also mean it's completely isolated from any cinematic universe shit by virtue of taking place far in the future, so I doubt they'd make it. Ironically Gunn is probably the only person who would make something like that though
>>
>>221407446
It's probably going to make a ton of money but not enough to profit. A James Cameron Avatar 3 situation if you will. I think it will make a billy but will need 2 billy to break even.

Has anything even been set up for Doomsday? Every movie prior to infinity war was basically promoting it, but with Doomsday it's just a matter of knowing there's a big superhero movie they've been working on. I think it doing genuinely poorly isn't off the table, even if it's unlikely it wont at least be a situation similar to what you describe
