>Captain's Log, stardate 52672.3. It's been just two more weeks since the end of the Domion War. We are on our way to Betazed to deliver relief supplies. I hear the situation on the planet is dire. For such an evil like the Jem'hadar to fall upon such a kind and gentle people is the greatest of tragedies. They have to go back. We will build a subspace graviton field at the mouth of the wormhole and the Cardassians will pay for it.

How would you all feel about a political thriller trek series? The concept being a conspiracy has been uncovered by telepathic factions within the federation. In order to investigate, a species immune to telepathy is paired with a psychic. Due to all telepaths being potential traitors, it's unknown whether the partner is part of the conspiracy, or not.

>3,800,000,000
>roughly the same lifespan as humans
>expected mortality rate per year of Earth is 1% of total population
>3.8b / 100 = 38,000,000
>300,000 Bajoran deaths due to Cardassian occupation per year on average
>mortality rate increas of 0.789% per year
This is a rounding error at best, and they make it out to be this astronomical calamity. Vedic Bareil would still be alive if the bloody Cardis never left Bajor.
>>
>>221415749
Her face is very asymmetrical in a bad way, not in a cute way like a pixar character with one side of their mouth turned up slightly more than the other, like every pixar character is.
>>
>>The Next Generation films repeatedly trade away the defining qualities of their characters in pursuit of broader comedy and blockbuster spectacle. Captain Picard, once the franchise's embodiment of restraint, diplomacy, and intellectual authority, is reinvented as an action hero—swinging across chasms in Insurrection, driving dune buggies across alien deserts and romancing women decades his junior in Nemesis, and increasingly resolving conflicts with fists and phasers rather than words. Riker, formerly the confident and capable first officer, is frequently reduced to the butt of jokes, his swagger played for laughs and his authority diminished. Geordi La Forge, whose VISOR had become an iconic symbol of disability overcome through ingenuity and determination, abruptly abandons it in First Contact in favor of artificial eyes, then callously discards the VISOR as though shedding an unwanted burden. Most strikingly, Data's long, thoughtful exploration of humanity gives way to broad comic relief: the emotion chip turns him into a vehicle for slapstick, panic attacks, drunkenness, and juvenile jokes, replacing quiet philosophical inquiry with exaggerated emotional outbursts.
>>
>>221416423
I'm not opposed to the idea of a political thriller trek, but that premise doesn't do it for me.
My pitch is have it be about Section 31 trying to recruit Bashir again and him going on a crusade to systematically dismantle the entire organization.

>Vedic Bareil would still be alive if the bloody Cardis never left Bajor.

>>
>>221419946
So what you're saying is that it's good the occupation ended so Bajorans could get back to murdering each other in horrific sci-fi cautionary tale tier ways. I'm not saying I disagree, I'm just saying that "Bareil would still be alive" is something Dukat could've told Kira, and he'd have been absolutely right, and she'd have known he was right. There's no way she could deny it.

What do you think an outright refusal would look like? It's the Federation. A polite "no thank you" and a "maybe you'll be ready some day, we'll be here" is about as brutal as it gets from them.

Do you prefer when a Trek 'sode jumps right into the action from the beginning of the episode, or when there's a scene showing daily life aboard the ship/station that's otherwise unconnected to the plot?
Personally I prefer the latter, it's really cozy, like when you learn about Bashir and O'Brien's holo adventures or see Data trying a new hobby.

Sounds a bit too much like those vampire manga where the little vampire girl is centuries old. Very suspicious.

I think all ten classic Star Trek movies are very good although Nemesis has the most glaring issues. Still better than all the normiefied trash that came after.
>>
>>221447685
Generations is bad outside of like 3 scenes, First Contact is highly overrated and some characters, like Picard, barely even act like themselves, Insurrection is retarded (Picard said no to shit like this in TNG but he decides to intervene here because... they're white people or something?), and Nemesis is complete trash sabotaged by a director who hated Star Trek.

And yes I know that because ILM left them out to dry, they had to go with a third rate effects house that was more experienced with stop motion than motion control, so a lot of the space scenes were botched.
But Bill Shatner was a good director with a keen eye for aesthetics - the dreamlike and religious imagery make this obvious.
Also Jerry Goldsmith's score is wonderful and probably his best out of the entire series. I love how he adds extra violins to the TMP theme (which became TNG's) so it sounds like an old Hollywood western. After all, what is Star Trek but Wagon Train to the stars? He also adds that ram's horn to the Klingon theme - they're the savage Indians chasing the cowboys. Pure kino.
