There was a British case where a teen went to a place to pick up weed, then found their sleeping daughter, and just abducted her and killed her. There was no plan, it was just a crime of opportunity. Thing is, shit like that happens. Maybe someone wanted to burgle hotel rooms, found the place open, walked in, saw a sleeping child and just abducted her to rape and kill her.

The British case happened fairly recently, so there was home and security cameras that tracked his movmeents which lined up with the crime. Madaline McCain was abducted in the early 00s where there was less camera coverage. That's why shit like this are "mysteries" and we solve shit faster now.
