They can also apparently send you all the way back to P Days (Processing) at the very beginning of basic if they want. Usually the fear of that is enough of a motivator. There is a little bit of a brainwashing effect going on, because for the duration of the process, you are completely cut off from the outside world, so the only information you receive is what they choose to tell you. Basic training is a good idea, but people are too small to execute it.
