There hasn't been a single really good movie in over a decade.

I quit watching new ones
And if I see a sexy bitch on a new movie poster nowdays I'm liable to just look her up on AZNude instead of watching the movie itself

Okay, OP is yet another lazy PLEB. John Wick is barely a 6/10.

Running Scared (2006)

>John Wick
That's not a 10/10 or even a 9/10.
It's barely even a 8/10, depending on your metrics, it could maybe max out that high just by sheer relativity compared to the other releases from that year
OP said a REALLY good movie

You have no taste, you lazy pleb, OP.

It's sad because I can feel my standards lowering because I want to say Parasite and Oppenheimer, but I feel like those would have just been average movies twenty years ago

I liked the DUNC films. They feel very different from everything else. Too bad Zendaya ruined every scene she's in. If I had the tokens, I'd replace her with someone else desu.
>>
>>221409246
Its an incredibly well done movie that while being a child friendly murder mystery gets extremely existential and deals with death, exclusion and finding your place in the world.
>>
>>221409660
Kind of like a modern charlottes web or animal farm where it has a more moral story to tell?
I DL it, might as well check it out.
>>
>>221409579
Shit adaptation of dune though, especially the 2nd one, it ruins dune massively and that fucktard
d directors logic, which you can read on the wiki of the movie is even more cancer than the movie itself.
He also keeps doing this gay thing in all the movies, some BWAMMMMMMMMMMP audio when he things something cool is happening, but its just fucking shit.
The worse part of that in dunc 2 is when paul wakes up from the water of life trip. It fucking ruins the whole scenario.
I mean if you dont know dunes story you will just not even understand what is going on.
The syfy mini series is still the only good adaptation and it does that part well.
I like dune, even know I have never read the book and would really love for a true adaptation of it with the similar budget, sets and aesthetics as the movies.

>The Sheep Detectives
I put it on thinking this was a very welcome throwback to movies I watched as a kid like Babe and Jungle book live action, but I was really put off by the cg animals. So much of the charm of those old movies were that they had real animals with voicover. Same reason I couldn't get into that Harrison Ford adaptation of call of the wild.

It just loses the charm and feel of actually being in a place, which is key to adventure/farmer kino. Very boomerish opinion I know, but I can't really help it.
>>
>>221410534
The cgi works for sheep detectives because it makes the sheep's expressions more dynamic without being in an uncanny valley of animal movies like the recent lion king
>>
>>221407838
You haven't watched more than 10 movies made in the last decade, and I bet most of them were capeshit.
>>
>>221410571
I'll give it another go, but, I really wish they'd done real sheep for the general moving about, and then maybe animated faces for closeups and so on, which I think is closer to lion king and what I'd prefer. Just the pastoral shots with him walking around the sheep and me instantly seeing the unnatural movements just sucks, so can't agree with you anon

Yeah, was good. Didn't love (the potential symbolism of) how the poison was from the trees in the Church yard, how the movie was blatant vegetarianism propaganda, and how George's integration into the flock was handled, but very solid otherwise.
>>
>>221412002
>(the potential symbolism of) how the poison was from the trees in the Church yard

Thinking about it a little further, how it was only the yard, basically representative of bad consequences of the adoption policy, sort of an obstacle keeping people from entering, how the shepherd George never came inside the Church except for when he brought the bribe, and how the Priest confessed to taking the bribe for no personal gain but to combat the poor financial situation of the Church, I don't quite mind it. It's adequate symbolism and doesn't seem mean-spirited.

I really liked this one from 2021. There has also been some decent horror movies in modern years. But horror has always been the black sheep of genres so people don't really tend to critique them in the same way as they do with "actual" movies.

When it comes to Hollywood movies, nothing has been good since before 2010 really or whenever everything just became either superhero/star wars crap or remakes/reboots.

No way you could pull off the shit they did in Sheep Detectives with real animal actors bro. That'd just be a furry in a sheep suit.
