So much of the charm of those old movies were that they had real animals with voicover. Same reason I couldn't get into that Harrison Ford adaptation of call of the wild. It just loses the charm and feel of actually being in a place, which is key to adventure/farmer kino. Very boomerish opinion I know, but I can't really help it.

It's adequate symbolism and doesn't seem mean-spirited.

I really liked this one from 2021. There has also been some decent horror movies in modern years. But horror has always been the black sheep of genres so people don't really tend to critique them in the same way as they do with "actual" movies.When it comes to Hollywood movies, nothing has been good since before 2010 really or whenever everything just became either superhero/star wars crap or remakes/reboots.
