Is it really that good? I bought this book for my gf, because I keep seeing someone (probably OP) spamming this. Also I dont read books, so I wonder.

it's a book of stories, some of the stories are 8 or 9 out of 10, some of the stories are a 5 out of 10
the sequel BOOK is a solid 7/10
the sequel SERIES is another 5/10
also dan simmons is a weird jew worshipper and it shows, i had to check if he wasn't in one of those american cults like adventists or jehovah's witnesses.

The first two are pretty good. Never read the rest because they don't feature the same characters and I was content with where the conclusion left them off.

Interestingly enough the only jewish character in the original is a secular atheist scientist who disowns his jewis roots. Of course, in the sequels it turns out the real enemy is the Catholic Church

that's who saul is as a character but the story is written in a way that emphasizes his jewishness and makes reference to how much the poor jewish people have suffered throughout history. and i think there was more admiration for jews peppered throughout the book
that said, i agree that i would not have said what i said about him being a jew worshipper if this was the only novel of his i'd read, but his jew worship makes its way to other works as well.
