The real problem is that most of the niglet characters are paper cutouts who are hard to tell apart (especially the girls) because none of them do anything and have no personality.
The males like Corlys, his escaped son and his bastard are less egregious but are also one-note, uncomplex characters who go through a little bit of mandatory grimdark suffering and then act like nothing happened.
When you have characters like Daemon or Rhaenyra or Aegon, who are a whirlwind of personality and interesting conflicts, and you have these insanely bland blacks, you have to wonder if this is really woke, and not just a return to the "blacks can only be supporting characters" writing philosophy we had for ages.

the more sensible argument is that it makes it easier to differenciate velaryons and targaryens since physically they look the same and basically 80% of the dance cast is velaryon/targaryen, so it would be a little confusing when most of the characters are silver haired

The longer the show goes on, the more of its dwindling audience realize just how retarded the race swap actually is and how many problems it causes, and the show is now increasingly regarded as a joke. People are already comparing it to the end of GoT, which is definitely too far, but still people are starting to make that comparison already. It's definitely not that bad, yet. But It's maybe headed that way. And the lesson audiences will take from it, and already are taking from it, is that these sorts of changes should not be tolerated.
