i cant follow this movie, what was the point?
it seems cool, but no idea what the story is

What dont you get?

the whole thing

There are two stories. Story one is the first scene at the boat, the interview, and the last scene where he leaves the station. Story is everything else, and is basically made up to appear convincing and explain why verbal (sose) was caught on the boat.

Story two is this:
>bunch of career criminals are arrested at the same time so they plan a heist
>the perform the heist, which puts them in touch with sose
>they have to destroy a drugs shipment on a boat

Because story two is made up, story one is this:

>keyser sose kills a bunch of people on a boat then gets caught somehow
>he pretends to be verbal kint and spends an entire interview bullshitting a cop, then gets released

It's hard to know how much of what happened in the boat was real but I think it is implied he was there killing people

You need to read some books because this is the most straightforward movie ever.

Spacey has to negotiate with the cops and unravel the web of corruption and murder to clear Sam Jackson's name.

so some criminal gets arrested and spends tge entire movie lyimg to a cop and gets released, this is the whole movie?
>>
>>221410264
That's underselling it a bit: a world-famous, almost mythical criminal is caught in suspicious circumstances, but manages to be such a convincing liar he is released moments before they realize who they've caught

not op but I haven't seen the movie in a while. What was the point of the whole boat sequence in Verbal's/Sose's plan? Get a bunch of goober criminals together to wipe out some other criminals and get wiped out in the process?

The whole movie is a bit retarded if you focus on the why and hows.
in the story, well the underlying reason sose even employed the criminals was meant to be a ploy so he can get onto the boat and kill the only person who had visual confirmation of what sose looked like.
By the end of the movie, they have 1 witness, a sketch, his finger prints and image and a fucking cop knows what he looks like.

I think the boat sequence was real inasmuch as sose was doing a hit on someone on the boat. Keaton was real/involved because the police would have found him dead.

Maybe he was tying off loose ends by murdering Keaton on the boat (as well as the original target, the guy actually on the boat), so he invented a story that puts Keaton there, and that's where the stuff about the arrest etc. came from
>>
and then some lawyer was found dead in a hotel room, but who was she and what purpose?
considering everything verbal said was a lie

There was a guy aboard who could identify Soze, in fact he ended up showing himself to everyone on the ship which is why a random sailor identified him later. The hit team were all people Soze wanted dead anyway so he killed them when the job was done.
