Why did so many early 2010s movies use that flat, boring digital look? I thought it looked terrible even back then, and it was an instant turn-off for me. It wasn't just budget because low-budget films from the 70s and 80s even looked better.
>>221415806It still happens and it's because filmmakers have a good enough mentality these days. The perfectionists shoot on film, the lazy bums shoot on digital.
Probably looked pretty novel back then because we had just entered the widescreen flat television era, so even though it looks flat in comparison to films from an earlier time this still looked incredibly clean and detailed compared to watching the old stuff on CRT.
