I don't get it.

I haven't been on this board in a long time, but my wife and I just watched Sinners last night since it's on HBO Max. I knew it won several Oscars, so we were excited to see it. It's just a straight-up From Dusk til Dawn ripoff? I mean, it's not even attempting to hide it. There was nothing, and I mean nothing, groundbreaking about this film. Michael Jordan's acting was just okay. He didn't have any crazy moments that stood out to me deserving of best Actor. The cinematography wasn't anything to write home about. Half the fucking movie takes place in a car with a green screen cotton field in the background. Wow, amazing. The ending was just more cliched vampire bullshit, with no new take on the genre. I wasn't around /tv/ when this came out, but I have to assume you guys caught on to the fact that this was a nothingburger and must have just been a diversity inclusion in the Oscars, right?
