The former Hand leaves the capital, is kidnapped on the road, and spends the next weeks in the dungeons w/o anyone's knowing? The execution itself was good, having goody two-shoes Rhaenyra finally get her hands (and boots) dirty was a welcome change.

Making characters onto stereotypical 1d cardboard cutouts, that's one thing.

These writers deserve everything bad to come their way, but this show did get absolutely fucked by having these two episodes removed from last season
They clearly would have rounded out the season and made it significantly better, even if there's still major, major issues

Even things like Aegons Sobriquet. Maybe 1% of casual watchers noticed or cared, but the entire season 2 there's a sub-plot about Aegons Sobriquet, he discusses it multiple times, Aemond makes fun of him for being so focused on it
And then you get Rhaenyra with the payoff in the final episode, Aegon the Usurper.
It's like a minor thing, but it absolutely was a payoff to things that season 2 contained, as an avid watcher I appreciated it. There's other examples too.
