The former Hand leaves the capital, is kidnapped on the road, and spends the next weeks in the dungeons w/o anyone's knowing? The execution itself was good, having goody two-shoes Rhaenyra finally get her hands (and boots) dirty was a welcome change.

These writers deserve everything bad to come their way, but this show did get absolutely fucked by having these two episodes removed from last season
They clearly would have rounded out the season and made it significantly better, even if there's still major, major issues

Even things like Aegons Sobriquet. Maybe 1% of casual watchers noticed or cared, but the entire season 2 there's a sub-plot about Aegons Sobriquet, he discusses it multiple times, Aemond makes fun of him for being so focused on it
And then you get Rhaenyra with the payoff in the final episode, Aegon the Usurper.
It's like a minor thing, but it absolutely was a payoff to things that season 2 contained, as an avid watcher I appreciated it. There's other examples too.

The point is he thinks he's a master strategist who's going to beat his arch-nemesis, then finds out he gets outplayed.
That's what makes him crash out and start killing all the strongs. It's hilarious

The show keeps the literal sequence of events.. Aemond goes to Harrenhal, Daemon has taken Kings Landing, Aemond asks Simon Strong where Daemon is, he says Daemon isn't here, and then Aemond asks him casually to draw his sword..

like that completely misses the point of everything. It's the exact same events but stripped of all the meaning and context that gave it worth. Aemond is humiliated and lashes out, that's what his character is all about. They stripped that. Retarded.

Just saw the episode. First of all, this shot was insanely good, so symbolic. Second, I feel like the writing, especially the dialogue, was stiff in some scenes and not as fluid as in the last episode. Then I saw that the writer for this one was Sara Hess, and while she falls short in some regards, I also feel like she did justice to the female characters’ writing in this episode, especially in Rhaenyra’s case. Some of the scenes with Alicent were a bit questionable, though.
