The kids are about 8-10 years old. So apparently there was no light for about a decade or some kind of shit. we know Fromville never was a real town because the people in it have a much older history than the majority of the houses, which are entirely wrong and irrationally placed for a small American town. And the fact that everyone who "entered" it came from a different place in the US.
The buildings couldn't have been constructed by original inhabitants of sorts is what I am trying to say, because some look vaguely 1960s, while the shit was already going on during the civil war, so who would have constructed them when the town supposedly can't let things in and out to manage the logistics. yes people leave trinkets, but not a whole post office.
the cave paintings we saw in earlier seasons match up perfectly with native west american geoglyphs, so you can go even further back when dating it.
With the whole LSD trip manifested itself through paintings idea that we got from Henry, it might turn out to be an Alan Wake style "manifested story" thing and eventually the writer figures a way out to write himself out of it and allows the made up characters to die and the real town that existed returns to normal or was never even affected, or since his story is finished, the real people whom he used as inspiration and manipulated into his story, are cut loose and forget what happened.
