Directors has gotten addicted to digital because they don't have to do lighting and can do hundreds of takes to pick in post vs properly lighting and blocking shots. The end result is the badly lit, flat soap-opera-ish, blue/orange/grey tinted movies we have today. Worse, movies are shot to fit vertical phone screens for yt and tiktok shorts. All the action is centered in the middle and the camera is static.

I like his movies but he's got to get a different casting director or something. The Northman I couldn't finish due to how terrible the cast was. The witch is unwatchable because of that awful main actress (who's even worse in the northman). The lighthouse was fantastic however, and nosferatu is great if you skip all the 'household' scenes.
