So they manufactured the glass with bullet holes in them, and put bullets in the wall, so that one day someone time-reversed could use their time-reversed gun to pull the bullets out of the wall and fix the glass?

I was willing to believe i was the retard and just didn't get it, until the finale with the military teams doing that temporal pincer movement shit or whatever. Made absolutely no sense at all killed the whole movie by removing any doubt that Nolan was the retard.

read up on causality sometime. You can go forwards in time, but not backwards. The only time-travel related media I've seen that kind of gets around it (through pseudoscientific mumbo jumbo albeit) is the video game Outer Wilds.

>>221479401
Doesn't Bill And Ted's Excellent Adventure do time travel right? Where if you take something important from the past, and bring it to the present time, then the present time stays the same despite it being a crucial thing for the past, but that past changes
>>
>>221479450
no because you cannot go backwards in time. anything that involves going backwards in time, or bringing something from back in time, is not possible in any way.
>>
>>221479491
Yeah because time doesn't exist. It's just the measure of motion
>>
>>221479075
the idea people spend so much time insisting time travel is impossible makes me think it is not only possible but happens regularly
>>
>>221479075
Its easy to understand. They had an army of guys moving forward in time from the past. They had an army of guys moving backward in time from the future. They both showed up to attack the enemy army at the same time. You fools simply can't think outside the box
>>
>>221479522
it absolutely does exist. it's the fourth dimension. it's as real as you or me. or me, at least.

you can't travel backwards in time just like you can't walk through a brick wall. it has rules the same as physical space does.
>>
>>221479550
Been years since I've seen it, but while I understand that what you are explaining, I remember something about the execution being nonsensical.
>>
I think it's funny that people try to force this to be a time travel movie and get upset that it doesn't make sense--because it's not a time travel movie at all.
>>
>>221479565
I don't think it exists. I think maybe our concept of it seems to work, but in reality it isn't an actual thing. In reality, it's just things happening, there is no measurable thing called time, it's just the galaxies, stars, solar systems, planets, moons, things moving around one movement after another, but our memory of things that happened makes it seem like something like time exists, but for all intents and purposes, it might as well exist the way we think it exists
>>
>>221479614
Its always going to look nonsensical when you've got people moving in reverse shooting at you. But that's how time travel worked in the film. And it was interesting. That fight in the art storage was fantastic. Imagine trying to fight someone who is experiencing time in the reverse of what you're experiencing. Crazy shit

No, the 4th dimension is the 4th dimension. Dimensions refer to euclidean space, anything that is not space does not qualify. We're not doing calculus here. All fucking pseuds must fucking hang.

I still don't get what happens with the car Protag uses in the car chase. So it suddenly appears as a burning wreck, flips over and drives home?
>>
what the fuck were the armies at the end even fighting about? what were they trying to accomplish with that display?
>>
>>221477311
the gimmick is too convoluted to be entertaining and that's its primary issue as a film
its not that I dont' understand what going on, it's that its too fucking retarded as a plot device to make me care
this flick would have benefitted greatly by just being a standard globe-trotting spy vs spy action thriller
>>
>>221477669
>>221477311
>>221479075
It's normal glass. And for 99.999% of its existence, it is normal glass and appears so from normal forward time.
Unseen to you is, as Neil explains, the backward flow of entropy from Tenet's future enemies. This backward flow of entropy causes it to spontaneously crack "in anticipation" of the coming "backwards" gunshots The Protagonist is going to accomplish while reversed.

I get it if you don't understand, and I get it if you think it's stupid. But nobody @ me trying to dispute what I've just explained. That's just how it works, and I'm sorry that many people aren't on Nolan's level to intuitively understand something as non-linear as this. I don't like Oppenheimer and will not watch The Odyssey, btw, in case you want to claim I'm a fanboy.
>>
>>221480217
>I'm not stupid, it's just dumb and I don't care
>The movie would have benefitted greatly by being generic slop that I could understand
>>
>>221479169
That's not true, you can have it working coherently in universe. Tenet makes no sense because it has different people, objects and spaces interacting at the same time through opposite forms of entropy with very little explanation and consistency for how this actually works. The mere fact that the protagonist interacts with his future self means there are two concurrent streams of time happening simultaneously which in turn means that past actions affecting future ones and vice versa are functionally impossible, because they aren't following the same causality.
>>
>>221480227
>But nobody @ me trying to dispute what I've just explained. That's just how it works, and I'm sorry that many people aren't on Nolan's level to intuitively understand something as non-linear as this.
see>>221480185
I understand what nolan is trying to do, it's just so fucking dull and pretentious
meaning, it's for him to giggle to himself how heckin' lé smart he is and not for the audiences entertainment
flick was a slog, but had so much going for it, it was truly a waste of budget, talent and time
>>
>>221480252
if they didn't have to stop every 5.24 minutes to discuss or explain how the back and forth time gimmick was moving the plot points around, yeah it would've been 45 minutes shorter and all the better for it retard
it dragged the flick down and called constant immersion breaking attention to itself
>>
>>221480252
the army scene was utterly retarded
it's not hard to grasp what they're doing, it's just embarrasingly corny it loses whatever emotional punch a set-piece film-ender high point is supposed to have and you feel it as an audience member
it's a dud because the time gimmick makes it actuvely worse, not better , which defeats its intended purpose
>>
>>221479550
How about a simple army , but twice the size
>>
>>221477311
>>221477669
No. Pay attention to the movie instead of your phone next time, midwit.
>>
The movie failed at explaining to me on a fundamental level how reverse entropy can work at all, much less how it can engage with regular entropy at the same time. Like how the fuck does backwards kung fu work?

>>221479629
Then what the fuck is it? Time travel is the key point behind the entire plot.
>>
>>221479550
Every single sentence you said after the first one makes no sense at all.
>>
>installs glass window with spent inverted bullet rounds already in it
nothing to see here, friend
>>
>>221480185
the whole point was to make sator THINK that he already won. it was all a ruse, an act. a big battle that seems like sator won but really they sneaked out the algorithm. since it's a ruse across time forwards and backwards every single person had to believe sator won including the tenet soldiers EXCEPT 3 of them.

>ignorance is our strength

that's also why they HAVE to kill themselves at the end if they knew what really happened to the artifact. except the protagonist because he needs to remember the ruse after it happened to make the whole scheme work in the future/past.

>>221480227
>>
>>221480412
A lot of weird shit is gonna go down whenever you start messing with the turnstiles maybe they don't even see the bullet holes. Maybe there a reverse entropy thing that happens over time which they kind of allude to where because something was created with a past backwards time elements the forward time flow starts to override it so the glass could have healed itself backwards in time
>>
>>221480164
No, protags were moving forward in the original chase, the badguys were moving backward. When he uses the machine to move backward he's now moving backward like the badguys, he joins the chase moving backward like them. Which is when you got the handoff of the weapon part across the hood of his car and both the badguy and his future self noticing him in the car. The car doesn't drive itself back to where it started he does, in reverse if you're looking at it from moving forwards in time normally. That's why its already sitting on the highway burning then flips over and joins the chase when the original scene happens
>>
Love the movie, enjoyed it, but the battle at the end was fucking done terribly everyone just running around incoherently shooting at obviously nothing in particular

because that was the point it was a performance. it was just a show to make sator think he won. it's not a coincidence that the first scene in the movie is at an symphony/opera aka a PERFORMANCE

I havent even seen the movie, but I assume both characters in OP's pic are travelling backwards in time, so they arrive after the event has happened?
And the guy doing the shoting is travelling forwards in time (normal) tries to shoot someone who to him, are moving in reverse?
And all the confusion is because all of this happens in a contained time loop?

>>
>>221481095

>>
>>221482524
There are so many things wrong with that that I barely know where to start. I guess I’ll start here - reversing entropy and reversing time are synonymous, as entropy increases with time. If your entropy is decreasing, the arrow of time is pointing backwards for you. That also means you’re “youthening,” but that’s all right because technically you should also be dying because all your biological process rely on a net entropy increase you’re no longer capable of.

>>221479565
Space is time and vice versa. Spacetime they call it. What is time if not the distance between two points? But he’s right. Time travel as depicted in fiction is goofy because past world states are not stored anywhere like a save game you can just load up.
>>
Nope. The bullet holes appear shortly before the event, and vanish once the interaction is complete. Damage caused by inverted objects are unstable
In the movie they explain that the reversal of time is like pissing against the wind. The normal flow of time reasserts itself, so the effects of inverted objects aren't permanent
The battle at the end of the movie is to actually stop an algorithm to be assembled that could invert the entropy of the entire planet, instead of objects like bullets

This is just false, for two decades now we have been at it but the thing is we can't go back further than the invention of the transportation since that's the alpha point for us, there's no aleph-null of possibilities you can relive that moment until you're a shuffled designated number within extrinsic conventional minimal(vanishing) order
