Don’t you feel like some of the social commentary or writing in general feels very strawman like? Like there’s always a victim and the bad guys are completely irredeemable and evil and Walker always saves the day by kicking their ass. I just think that’s poor writing, lack of complexity painting some characters as one dimensional and the world pretty black and white. It’s the same reason I can’t get into delta force. I do like the first season with all the action though.

In the 1990s when all our infrastructure was still good and real and people's livelihood came from maintaining or improving it in some way. When their work was done the flyover families would return home and turn off their brains to watch the good guy kick some ass. He was literally them after all.

Do you think tonight's episode will be about a kidnapping? Or someone learning the power of self-belief? Chances are it will be one of those things.

Enjoying something simplistic but enjoyable is ok by me. And if I was a working Joe in the 90’s coming home to my housewife and 2.5 kids I’d probably see it differently. I enjoy easily amusing movies and tv shows too. I’m just saying the writers didn’t flex their creative muscles that far and I think while the show is good the writing holds it back from being the best. And like I say it often feels very strawman like and false, like it doesn’t really represent the real world. And usually when shows do that it’s because they want to push an agenda.
