Are the British alright?
>>
>>221586247
God this show was horrible. Made NuWho look like 2001: A Space Odyssey
>>
>>221586470
It just curse words and a British female officer going WAH Ouhh nuh ahhh
>>
>>221586470
Nah it's overly sexual 00s kino. It's the Star Trek Enterprise of Doctor Who. Children of Earth is also actually kino, and the immortality arc is pretty good too. Regardless, Torchwood is more entertaining than anything that has been on British television in the last decade.

>Are the British alright?
Never have been, never will be.
>>
>>221586470
It was very uneven. In the right hands it could have been kino. 'Miracle Day' showed how much worse it could be in the wrong hands. We'll never know how much better it would have been in the right hands.

It was a different time
also Jack was based, wish we had more tv protags like him

Should I keep going? I kinda like shows like this (Fringe for example) but the cast feels so soulless
>>
>>221586665
Is he cosplaying as squirrel girl? What the hell, damn you Rivals
>>
>>221586678
That feeling fits the tone of what they're doing.
>>
>>221586702
I'll keep going then, I was told to watch it just because one of my friends said the arc where everyone becomes immortal is peak fiction.

If only you knew how long ago this photo was taken.

Torchwood is great. Just episode after episode of really solid scifi MotW plots for two seasons, then Children of Earth, which speaks for itself. And then Miracle Day, which also exists, and can be campy fun if you just turn your brain off and dial up your tolerance for Americans

It gets better.
It's actually sad kino when the bisexual faggot other than the main character dies.

I watched this a couple of years ago, and there's this one bit where the Welsh couple are having an argument, because she's working for the alien squad so she's put their whole life on hold, doesn't want to talk about having kids etc. And he gets really up in her grill about it, shouting about how there's no point in what she does if she stops living her real life or whatever. And the whole time I'm sitting there bracing for the inevitable girlboss rejoindre that puts him in the wrong and aggrandises her because she's so brave and important and saves the world, but it never comes. she actually apologises to him, she's chastened by what he said because he's right, and the show lets him be right because it was written before the entirety of western culture was sacrificed to the altar of women. It was really jarring because it was just a scene of a normal argument between two married people but it was also like nothing else I'd ever seen on TV.

Even the corniest British tv series is more naturalistic than most Americans series. Not applying that to now of course, and you can't escape girl power in modern Brit shows either. But there was a time.

>wholesome show about young+old solving crimes in the english countryside
>pilot episode
>incest murder/suicide
No. The show just gets more and more progressively jewish from there with Tom acting as the "wise voice of reason" but also agrees with every single degenerate leftist take.

The first two seasons are pretty good. Some campy episodes, but also some good "what-if" DW riffs. Children of Earth is amazing. Miracle Day has too many episodes and drags in the middle but it's still okay. Bill Pullman is great and Mekhi Phifer plays a good foil to Barrowman.

Series 2 and Children of Earth are kino.

Seriously, how did RTD do it? Nu-nu-Who shows how fucked he is as a writer without Moffat and all the other Dr Who hanger-ons keeping him in check; yet he seemed to have run this show with one other person and it's easily one of the best sci-fi shows ever made.

Miracle Day lost me when they made a pedo into a hero, with some hand wavy explanation about people seeing him as the end of death or some stupid shit like that. Him being the first to become immortal didn't undo all horrific things the character does to children. The whole thing felt like a pedo show runner laying the ground work for the MAPs crap the left was pushing before they abandoned it to take the Epstein angle against Cheeto monster.
Before that, the show is reasonably good at the monster of the week format. Jack's pansexuality could get tedious at times but otherwise he's a good character. The existential dreariness of the operation at times seemed to reflect Jack's own difficulty with immortality.

Did you not watch until the end, anon? He didn't want to die out of guilt. He wanted to die because his victims were (in his eyes) horny little sluts, which meant that they went to hell when he killed them, so he wanted to follow them to hell so he could rape them for eternity. He reveals this in the climax of the finale.

Meds.
The paedo angle was one of the best bits about the show. It was a way for the world humanity to accept their next stage. They treated him as a messiah-like figure (in typical American evangelical fashion) because if a scumbag like him was given a second chance, then it meant humanity as a whole could be redeemed... But obviously as the series goes on you realise that it's actually a curse, and he isn't redeemed and he's still a scumbag. It was surpringly nuanced and well written in comparison to the whole show. One of the more narratively interesting parts of Miracle Day.
He also acts as an inverse of Jack, who has done plenty of terrible things but has always tried to do the right thing; and is stripped of his immortality at the same time this nonce, who is utterly self-serving and has done arguably worse things than him (at least through intention, [spoiled]Jack also killed a child to save the planet[/spoiler]), who preaches publicly about how he wishes the best for the world and wants to save it but is actually using everything to fulfil his own narcistic desire.

That undoes the public falling in love with a pedo how? Degenerates fantasize about not only being accepted for their degeneracy but also worshiped for it. Regardless of his character arc, having the public essentially turn him into a deity was really fucking messed up. The type of thing only a pedo would dream about happening.

I forgot about that bit. It was pretty retarded and has now made me realise perhaps his arc wasn't as well written as I remember.

This show felt like a worse version of every mediocre 90s sci-fi with nothing to say other than the leads a fag

It's the hero of gin alley!

The sidekick is supposed to be the voice of the common man and sanity but he's very toned down from the book. Goodreads reviewers call him a fascist because he's always calling people homos and deviants etc
