for me, it's Martial Arts horror
Passenger was proper wank, lads.

>>221602675I was just about to ask how it was.and not horror but apparently brutal as hell: does anyone have a stream for The Furious? I know it's out.

116 days til Halloween
I finally watched The Evil Dead recently and loved the raw, low-budget late 70s aesthetic. I wish I hadn't gone into II expecting a direct sequel though, since the opening retcon was incredibly confusing with no real explanation; Raimi should've just skipped the recap entirely and started on the recreated last shot from the first one. I liked it but a certain "charm" was lost between films, probably due to having 10x the budget... interesting how lots of fans trash the original while championing the sequel.Anyways, I'm putting on Army of Darkness later and read about the different endings and line changes between various cuts. I decided to torrent the theatrical for first-time viewing and wanted to see if you guys agree or disagree on this decision.
>>221602705*waits patiently*
>>221602627AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
>>221602717https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FzOIHOjYcqMThis works pretty well retroactively but yeah it's confusing how 1 ends and 2 starts.
>>221602717Only for America was it Theatrical vs home movie. The rest of the world got the “home movie” ending. America just hate the original ending so they had their own special typical ending.
>>221596671You still trying to get these? Let me know. I can upload them somewhere and give you links later. They're all only about a gig each in size, so don't expect too high of a quality.
Piranha 3D is like My Bloody Valentine 3D in that it being shot in 3D makes it look like absolute shit when not viewed in 3D. Older movies shot in 3D look fine in 2D, but that newer kind of 3D camera is like it only works if you have the full 3D experience. Otherwise everything just looks like awkwardly implemented CGI
Fav horror cuties whose career never took off?
>>221602717Theatrical is fine, it's the version people initially fell in love with.

>>221603397Jokes on you, I've always wanted to live forever. No clue why people would choose to die.
>>221602717the future ending was like a schoolyard rumor for me for>There's a different Army of Darkness ending where Ash wakes up in the future! It's real, my cousin's friend showed it to me!!Yeah fucking right. Liar. I don't know which is which, but I always liked the S-mart ending more.
>>221602717I liked 2 more when I was a kid, but the more I watch both, the more I prefer the first movie. 2 has some good effects and Henrietta is great, but the movie fucks around too much, especially for the first half. Army of Darkness has a great aesthetic and Bruce Campbell is a fun lead, but it also feels too different from the other movies.Watch the TV series as well, especially if you like Army of Darkness

Anon up there said it was "proper wank". I didn't believe him, I thought the haunted highway gimmick sounded alright so I watched it.It's ass. He wasn't lying.
>>221606354I thought you were talking about The Passenger with Djimon Hounsou and Kodi Smit-McPhee and was thinking it wasn't that bad. It was alright. Not great but a pleasant enough way to waste 90 minutes. But then I realised you were talking about the demon abandoned road film. I didn't watch it cause it looked crap

>>221600035>You call that "Folk Horror"?Yes, I would say it's a strong example of folk horror. Google AI agrees>Along with Witchfinder General (1968) and The Wicker Man (1973), The Blood on Satan's Claw forms the foundational "Unholy Trinity" of British folk horror. And it goes on to define the genre as >folklore, paganism, rural isolation, and the dark side of nature
>>221606719That was someone else. He's just one of, if not the, creator of an entire style of Japanese splatter films.
in this movie a guy crashes a plane with his family on it in spooky Appalachia backwoods and is taken hostage by hoodoo folk. I very recommend it if you're just looking for something to watch, it has some really great moments
>>221607221I love how all Appalachian horror movies are about hauntings, cannibals, deformities, etc. when in reality deep Appalachia is just extremely poor meth heads and fentanyl users.
>>221607306i know right. a horror movie based in Appalachia reality rather than the folklore is a concept ripe for the taking
>>221607319It works as a horror-thriller or torture movie. You can even start out with the cliché of a group of people breaking down, hiking/camping, etc. and then have them stumble upon the meth/fentanyl operation. Now they're hunted by a group of paranoid drug addicts who need to kill them or torture them to death to get information.
Very interesting film, bros.
>>221607418I mean I think most of the stuff you hear about "don't whistle in the woods" "never come out the way you came in" etc etc are practical tips to not get got not by cryptids or whatever the fuck but by real flesh-and-blood freaks out there doing illegal shit that will make sure those who stumble on their operation are not heard from again
Catching up on the current run of Supergirl. It's /hor/.
>>221607306>when in reality deep Appalachia is just extremely poor meth heads and fentanyl users.legit one of my favorite documentaries of all time. >>221607306>in reality deep Appalachia is just extremely poor meth heads and fentanyl users. So you mean deformed cannibals haunting Appalachia? Seems like they got it pretty true to life and there was no need to deviate
>poor white people horror>the white people are deranged cannibals with bad teeth>poor black people horror>the black people are the noble protagonists trying to survive against rich white people There's got to be some balance
>>221607969>>221607221this has rich black people and poor black people in it. it'll probably make your feeble brain explode.

>>221608918>>221609362This movie also used AI for all the monster scenes.Which I'm kind of torn about because it's clearly a low budget creature movie and they always have crappy effects, I have literally never once been turned off by effects unless they were Shark Attack 3 or Raptor Planet level egregious. I've seen shit like the 3 skeleton dinosaurs brought back via native american magic fusing together and had fun with it. But I also know the artists hate working on it because their hours are terrible and their pay is worse, and every single interview has them say "It's just a job" with no actual passion behind it. So if it's a dispassionate job that pays shitty and it always looked fake, I can't find a lot of arguments to why this particular genre needs to keep out AI. We're not losing artistry and we're not losing any well paying jobs here, and it's not like I was all "yeah I can feel the soul when I watched Spiders 2, that artist really made a human connection with me" for that shitty CGI.Dunno it's a very weird time to be a creature feature fan.

I mean look at this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQgDjhgcff0 you cannot look me in the computer monitor and say this is some kind of artistic expression we need to preserve, or that there's some kind of "Charm" to it being made that way as if it were practical effects. Would asking AI to put in a raptor really make it that worse? But CGI obviously shouldn't be replaced by AI entirely, people with the passion to work on stuff and the time and money to make it work can create shit an AI can't dream up that's wholly unique. That's not the argument, the question is using AI for low budget stuff like this because, frankly, is someone else going to do it better? I love low budget monster movies, I've been binging fucking Chinese monster movies because they actually keep delivering, but I understand they're not, well, good. That's not their fault entirely, they work with what they have, but if this gives them a little more to play with, well? I mean how much do you need to pay for a fake croc or a shark anyway.

>>221613343>Is that was that was about? IAn assassin leaves his wartorn home in the upper land goes down into a location twisted by the eponymous Mad God. His task is to set up a bomb and blow the entire place to kindgom come to stop its spread, only he's stopped just before he can set it off and it's revealed he's one of hundreds if not tens of thousands who all attempted the same and now only a bunch of suitcases remain, always stopping just before detonation because time has ceased to mean anything. The captured assassin is twisted and experimented on in order to uncover his secrets, and in his mind we're able to witness the beginning of it all when a map of flesh was given to the first assassin to go down into a world that had fallen into decadence and warfare but not yet madness. At the end of it all, the first assassin's fate is left hanging. With this procedure done, all that's left of the last assassin is a twisted worm that had been reduced to an infant crying in madness, and is given to the Mad God. Finally we find out how these many many twisted worlds are created, the Mad God and his assistant grind up the assassins into a golden dust through alchemy and use it to make yet another world in an endless cycle of misery. The clock on the bomb reaches the end, and a new world is born.

>>221615620Yeah see look at the little cocksucker shit you say trying to sound like an adult lol Life isn't about filling your time up with shitty media
>>221615568You think 2 is more seminal than 1? 2 came from 1, you idiot
>>221613508Exit 8 is better than Backrooms preachy, overexplained, tell don't show shit
>>221615650I'm nta you were just starting to sound retarded and I had to intervene
>>2216156542 is indisputably more seminal than 1>Infantile, invalid attempt at argumentYeah 16-18 like I said
Oh wait it's just an Indian lol To be confused and think 1 is in any way regarded as highly as 2, you'd literally have to be from the other side of the earth and have no access to the attitudes and postures of the people who were around when the movies were released and thereafter
>>221615684What came from 2 that wasn't already established by 1?
For me, it's Evil Dead 1
>>221607221>nigger pilot crashesLOL
>>221615892Infinitely based
>>221615108>still the best Amityville movie>only Amityville movie with incestReally makes you think
>>221607221>Hoodoo?
>>221607221this movie is ridiculous and hilarious
>>221615108This webm has to have something to do with why I started licking armpits during sex
>>221615108>brother, you *will* be inside me tonight>>221615444I don't think II is better because it simply isn't. Still liked it a lot though, more than Army of Darkness. >>221615620>>221615654This.
>>221616051>sniff
>>221616051>Dude the first one is better>The opinionThe first movie was completely disregarded in favor of second around time of army of darkness release. You aren't cool for pretending to always like 1s more than 2sNo value in talking to young people
>>221607221the anti-Peele
>>221616084>I read that the majority opinion was this at one point! Therefore that's what I think too!
>>221616084>implying I'm pretendingYou just can't reconcile the fact that some fans prefer the first ED, judging from the shitflinging you already engaged in with other anons lole
>>221616138I can reconcile it easily. People who say they prefer the first wre zoomers and not white Same with most shit opinions. I only come here to talk to white millennial and above Americans. Sorry you can't drink clean water though The first movie sucks. Amateurish garbage. I feel you guys are like /a/ where you pretend you're a hardcore regimen of people who care about the art form, in reality you're just relentless slop consumers to whom anything that has a whif of authenticity is must have to youI understand that authenticity is super highly valued to you because you have none in your lifeBut I'm an authentic person from an authentic era. Sucks to be you, a guy who hasn't, and won't, lick armpits during sex.
>>221616214what the fuck is this shit, why are you trying to force people to choose between Evil Dead movies, that's stupid
just marathoned picrel what did I think of it
>>221616224I don't want people to talk to me or acknowledge the things I say when their perspective is "the first one is better" which is what you are doingThe first one has no particular value as a movie, the second is incredibly influentialYou're scared to have actual opinions and you always say 1 of anything is better than 2
>>221616214>>221616263Evil Dead 2 only even exists due to a compromise because Raimi didn't have the funds to make Army of Darkness yet and the studio wanted another movie like Evil Dead 1, the seminal and legendary masterpiece of horror. So he shat out 2 and said "I hope some faggot likes it better than 1 some day" and lo and behold, that day has come
>>221616263this is the shitposter who lays down the most shittiest opinion and then ends it with a "i accept your concession" when he can't push it any further
>>221616263>>221616320this is Joel vs. Mike levels of fucking dumb
>>221616259It only really had 1hr of movie in it, kind of drawn out tales from the crypt episode.enjoyable premise though.
>>221616386not really because even when it was joel's time he was only funny because of mike.
Just finished. Plain, barely chubby girl starts taking a diet pill that releases her murderous Mr. Hyde side. Takes forever to get to the horror part of the story, like an hour out of 80 minutes. They got identical twins to play the girl and her evil side, which was pointless, since they don't share any screen time or look any different. Got a few Substance-sploitation titles left, already done the original, this, and Slanted, still got Saccharine and Grafted left.
>>221617117saccharine was better
>>221616320>So he shat out 2 and said "I hope some faggot likes it better than 1 some day" and lo and behold, that day has comeLmao, sent that freak flying.>>221616323I can totally see it being concessionjeet
Cronengottem & Charli XCX linked up, need it or keep it?
>>221609626Ken Russell's The Devils is apparently coming back to selected theaters as well, for the restoration
>>221617268Need it.
>>221617327Good lord, what an uggo.Still would though
>>221617327He's done something on her new upcoming album.I wonder what's got her so obsessed with horror movies.
>>221617117>They got identical twins to play the girl and her evil side, which was pointless, since they don't share any screen time or look any different. kek
>>221615171Don't worry, they'll rise again.
>>221616259I think it was fine but i enjoyed a lot more the scifi/horror elemts than the metaphore it was trying to push. As another said it should have been shorter, in general 75 minutes horror movies should be normalized
I have fallen asleep during the same episode from season 6 of Tales From the Crypt 3 different times now. I guess I'm just gonna skip it bros
>>221617117So did saccharine rip this off or did this rip saccharine off
>>221616040>sex-haver detected
>>221617117>hour out of 80 minutesSounds like Forbiggened Fruits
horror is dead....
>>221620259HORROR DIES TONIGHT
>>221620259It's the middle of summer and most of us are tired of the spammers & advertisers who have poop colored skin.
>>221620308so 4chan doesn't even get summerfags anymore? jesus man thats depressing. honestly i don't mind occasional shilling since it's the only way i'll find out about new shit
>>221620544Summerfags are when school's out. That doesn't happen until late July/August.
>>221620544The private trackers I'm on is how I find out about everything. I don't really care about a movie, show, etc. if I can't watch it for months.>so 4chan doesn't even get summerfags anymore?Number of organic users has decreased every year for a while now. Bots, advertisers, government agencies, farms, etc. now make up at least half of all posts/threads.
>>221609304Friendly reminder that Jessica Biel’s surname is Polish, making her Polish-American.
>>221620643in the US, schools get out late may/ early june then go back late august / early september>>221620675Grim. I mean I like the fact that we're basically zoomer repellant but in two years it's all going to be slow boards
>>221620802It really doesn't help that Indians have replaced a lot of those that have left, which is a death sentence to any site.
>Friday The 13thThis is the last time Friday The 13th will happen 3 times in a calendar year until 2037. Also, 2028 has the spookiest of Friday The 13th as it falls in October.
75 days until Fall starts

>>221621248I have the perfect place to put a string of lit jack-o-lanterns, but can't since it's not my house yet.
>>221621457What if you sneak over at night and do it anyway
>>221621503Bushes line the area, so I'd end up setting the house/grass on fire. Once I inherit it, I'll remove the bushes and brainstorm on how to set it up. House needs a lot of work as it is.
>>221621457I'm imagining you living under the floorboards of some family's house and are constantly committing spooky ocurrences to get them to move out
>>221621564That would be cool, like The Boy meets Beetlejuice type movie.
>>221602627I just watched Train to Busan for the first time. Easily the best "zombie" movie since the first 28 Days Later, though that's not exactly saying much. Fuck this guy, man.
>>221621564I distinctly remember watching some live action kids thing from the 70's that was this. Never been able to ID it. Family moves into an old mansion and there's an old guy living in a series of secret rooms using spooky costumes to try and scare them off.
Reviews are out and people are saying Evil Dead Burn is dead has too much gore and is too brutal.
>>221622222I respect all those 2s, but why would anyone give a shit about reviews?
>>221622222You like Huey Lewis And The News?
>>221622274idk i must have had a stroke typing that shit out
>>221622330Happens all the time. Strokes while online are substantially higher than offline. I'm not sure why, but I'd put my money on the tribesmen.
>>221621564>>221621889I'm reminded of a Sega Genesis game called Haunting where you played as a punk ghost and had to manipulate and possess objects in a house in order to scare the family living there out of it
Just finished. Definitely better than Thinestra. Had a couple of actually spooky moments, and the lesbian scenes were hot.
>>221623241I also watched Citizen Vigilante. That was practically a slasher film, lmao
I just wanted to update you guys on my all-time favorite movies list:1) Longlegs2) The Empty Man3) Vanishing Point4) The Believers5) The Big Lebowski6) Gran Torino7) Silence8) King ArthurI will keep you posted if anything changes.

>>221607741>I'm Swedish, I know nothing about this lifeWe used to have these strange hermits living in the woods in (most of) norrland, värmland, dalarna and västergötland (probably in småland too), as late as the 1990's. Maybe the closest thing we had to that.

Oh God it just keeps getting fucking wooooorse
>>221624847Did they un-kill Rick?
>>221624875He died a few episodes ago.But then you see him still alive on a chopper with Pollyanna McIntosh
>>221624847I stopped watching after Negan got annoying
>>221624847Haven't seen it, why dont they just kill the zombies instead of fucking around and fighting each other? In the ~60 zomb movies Ive seen it's usually pretty easy unless you're retarded. End of NotLD still seems the most realistic depiction of human response to a zombie outbreak
>>221625172Most of the groups they encounter don't want to recreate pre-zombie society. The opportunity is there to establish their group as the ultimate kingdom
