Honest opinion of The Big Lebowski?
jewish smut garbage with too much nudity and alcohol. What was with all the cursing too? This movie is awful
pretty good

I think I will rewatch it now. I'm such in a cozy state right now.
>>221611111holy quints, are you a dudist?
>>221611000It's good but the bowling scenes drag and aren't funny
>>221611000I have the poster on my wall and it really ties the room together.

>>221611522>They even had a chatacter named "Jesus" who is a registered sex offenderWhich is correct and probably what the Romans actually arrested him for after he spent the night with a naked kid at Gethsemane >>221611043Shut the fuck up Donnie
>where's the penis, Wachowski?>we're gonna cut your dick off, Larry
it's a dumb movie, but enjoyable. It starts off with the worst plothole ever: the two enforcers realize they have the wrong man, and leave him alive. This does not happen. So you have to deleted everything after the opening because he is lying in a pool of blood right away.
One of the very few comedy movies I actually consider to be cinema. The cast is perfection.
>>221611000Quotable but too quirky for modern cynical tastes.
>>221611000Slacker slapstick about vaginas.
>>221611563How does this happen? They're not millennial or zoomzooms, they are both successful brothers, and yet they BOTH trooned out? What are the odds of this?
>>221611043bait
>>221611566>plot hole>Big Lebowski>plotThe movie literally ends with nothing being resolved and no questions being answered. You must not have gotten it.
>>221611586you've never heard the story of how they were both physically and mentally fucked by some legendary dominatrix bitch? she was too good at her job and completely broke them.

The Big Lebowski is a movie I only ever appreciate more with each watch. Probably the tightest comedy script ever written. I imagine it must've been slightly divisive on release because it gives you zero closure whatsoever, even though that is the point.
>>221612055this post unironically made me think of the wojak basedboy
How do you write a movie with SO many quotable lines?
jeff bridges claims he didnt smoke a single puff of weed while filming this movie
Worthless shit. Don't watch anything jewish. The best they can do is this disgusting degeneracy.
>THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS YOU FIND A (TV edit) STRANGER IN THE ALPS

close to a true 10/10 movie. shame about the ‘sequel’.
>>221611000I hate the fucking eagles man.

>>221612607He's lying. The Coens don't do sequels and never will. They've extensively said this in the past
>>221612634I think he's talking about the Jesus movie.
>>221612676They aren't involved in that, so it doesn't count.
>>221611046This. It's boomerific in good ways, and showcases the various aspects of the boomer mindset in practically all its characters in honest ways, and without judgment.I'm not sure if the Coomwens were going for that effect or not, but it's so obvious once you notice.
>>221612676That's too bad I would have liked that to be good. Has anyone seen it?
>>221613154Just stay away
>>221612227I think about what this means a lot.
>>221611615GIWTWM
It's an ok movie that I likely would have enjoyed far more had it not been hyped up to me for years before I bothered to watch it.
>>221611000It was okay. I liked it but I dont really get the hype or why its remembered, I was rooting for him to get his rug back though.>>221611586My grandfather transitioned some years after his wife died and his son/my uncle transitioned around the time he divorced his wife. Logically in my case it's either genetic tendency or some common psychological phenomenon to cope with losing a woman in your life by becoming a woman in place of them. Grandpa got some big rocking tits.
>>221616094read this in ozzy's voice
>>221611000kino
>>221611111ARE YOU EMPLOYED, SIR? checked
>>221611000I enjoyed it. It's not my favorite of all time, but I can definitely understand why it became a cult classic. Loved the humor, surreal tone and the attention to detail in how the non-mystery plays out. Also appreciate that even when depressing and introspective, it's still allowed to be comedic. Felt way more true to life than a lot of "dramadies" these days.
>>221611563I get the impression one of them is enjoying life a a tranny more than the other.
LEADS?
it grew on mewalter drives me crazy, i'd like to see a version without him, those aggressively assured people, AND he's pretending to be a jew
Donnie drinks a cherry coke with the 4th design at the alley.
one of the best movies, unfortunately too popular to enjoy talking about it with others unless you are a karma farming redditor.
>>221611043I'm so sick of you /pol/trannies shitting up every thread with your worthless opinions. You don't like art so why are you on the film board?

I'm a bookfag, but I think the visual of him nailing a chair towards a door handle for safety, but the door swings outwards is better than it would be on the page

>>221611000it's like a pynchon novel
>>221617805immersion ruined
It has a couple funny moments but overall pretty meh. The primary feeling you get is "why am I watching this". Also fuck jews and if u have a problem with that go back
>>221618189Coen bros ascended beyond the jew label into /tv/ approved kinomakers. Of course you would have known this if you weren't a tourist.
>>221611000Go in expecting a chill comedy.Got so stressed because it's a very genius artistic expression of how much people will just fuck with your good mood. Considering the scenes and characters are all outlandish, the outcome is too relatable. It's great how The Dude sort of just rides above it despite constantly being fucked with by his allies and opponents. Fucking Walter!Watching it was a bad trip whilst sober. People, man...
>>221611000A worthy, if totally offbeat, addition to the Shoa genre. Spielberg wishes he was this good.
>>221611000Johnson?
>>221618476fuck off, one of them is literally married to a lesbian that uses his name to make her terrible lesbian films no one watches, and he's fine with that arrangement, they're kikes and you're a disingenuous nigger that needs to go back
>>221617929>The dude was fastidiously hammering a misshapen block of wood on the floor in front of the door>After wiping his forehead he placed a chair underneath the doorknob while it's back legs were angled behind the block.>The dude grunted in satisfaction and went to make another white Russian. What would usually be your typical background characters get their own film and it's great.
>>221611000THERE ARE RULES
>>221611563mental illness
>>221611000Funny but it's not something I rewatch very often. Gets kinda repetitive with thr Dude's yammering but John Goodmans part still cracks me up
>>221621655The repetition is part of the humor. Almost everything The Dude says is something he heard someone else say earlier in the film. Only Hot Fuzz rivals it in that aspect.
>>221611043The only funny bit is when he goes on that Vietnam rant about Donny before pouring his ashes all over the other guys

>>221611000i think it's the only film i can quote the entire script to and i've only seen it 3x or sonot sure how they did that
The absolute best line in the film that I think of at least once a week is "And also let's not forget - let's not forget, dude, that keeping wildlife, erm... an amphibious rodent for, erm, y'know, domestic... within the city.... that ain't legal either." That line + delivery is so diamond perfect that it upsets me when I compare it to other films where they try to make me laugh with clever wordplay and elaborate jokes. Look how much you can achieve with so little. In fact that whole scene is my favourite Walter scene in the whole film.

I read The Big Sleep like a decade after seeing this movie and was pretty surprised at how close the two are.

>>221625882Yeah it's weird to have first seen it not knowing it's a parody of los angeles noir movies. I think that's why Chainsaw Man part 2 was so shitty

>"Good shot there, Smokey.">"Yeah...thanks for that tidbit, Donny.">*rolls eyes*
What are books similar to Lebowski? I’ve read Inherent Vice which is the closest in my opinion
For me, it's Walter completely fucking up Donny's funeral.>starts rambling about his Vietnam experiences that have nothing to do with Donny after like one sentence of eulogy>tries to scatter the ashes off a cliff but the wind just blows it back over the both of them, completely covering The Dude as he watches in a kind of catatonic state, unable to process the emotions until he flips out when Walter starts trying to dust Donny's ashes off himEvery time I see it I start howling with laughter. How do you even come up with a character like Walter?
>>221629614The Time Machine Did It is a fun noir parody written by a golden age Simpsons writer. Shadow Ticket also by Pynchon is pretty good.
el bumperino, if you're not into that whole 'brevity' thing
>>221629662we got help chopperin in good buddy…
>>221629662>How do you even come up with a character like Walter?
if you don’t like this movie you are certifiably low iq
>>221618545This really stood out to me too. Especially the irony of the plot only happening because the Dude breaks his own rules and chooses to hold a petty grievance over his rug.>>221629662>How do you even come up with a character like Walter?A lot of the characters were based on people the Coens know. Walter's based on director John Milius, and you can tell just by looking at a pic of him Goodman's dead on.>>221629614The Making of Zombie Wars is vaguely similar, although it kind of falls apart due to the protagonist being a neurotic piece of shit aspiring screenplay writer and the rather anticlimactic ending.
Smokey was over the line.
>>221624731kek i fully understand. the little pause and slight headshake he does between "within the city..." and "...that ain't legal either" is perfectly timed
Reminder The Dude was never rich or had any sort of invention money it was simply just that much cheaper to live in 1990 that you could get by fairly easily on just bringing in only 300-500 dollars a month
>heyyy, this is a private residence, man>nice marmot
>>221631402I thought he was the inventor of the rubix cube and had fuck you money?
>>221611000the only fun scenes are the ones with The Dude and Maude. Goodman brought his A-game as always, but it's just a miserable character.
