The best Odyssey adaptation
>>221616326Everyone knows this.
>>221616326We're in a tight spot!
damnit I'm a dapper dan man
>>221616326it was funny when they asked the Coen bros what they love most about The Odyssey and they both said they've never read it
>>221616326We thought you was a toad.
>>221616326>directed by two jews
>>221616406some jews know kino
>>221616326What's goin on Big Dan?
>>221616326literally no, but ok
>>221616483dang I didn't know these 2 were in a movie together. I'm a huge fan of Deadwood so this is a pleasant surprise. but is the film actually good?
>>221616326What else is there?

>>221616326This movie is so good because it looks like shit in the trailers and back when we had normal cabel tv the commercials made it look like shit too. It doesn't translate into a short ad, it looks like a fag movie with no charm or depth, just dancing and singing and "da south". But it transcends every shitty perception you could have of it by the time it's over. It's the best movie with George Clooney starring by far. The Grammies performance was really good too.
>>221616641
>>221616406Those 2 jews have made some of the best movies ever made
>>221616396no one has actually read the odyssey they just pretend they have
>>221617553Had to read it in HS English class and write a paper on it.Suck it, zoomie.
>>221617553Are you trying to be smart by implying you haven't read it unless you read it in ancient Greek?
>>221616326Fuck yeah.
>>221616391Watch ya language, young fella. If ya want Dapper Dan, I can order for ya. It’ll be here in two weeks.
>>221616398……DO. NOT. SEEK. THE TRAYSURE.
>>221617218Fuck yes. I think I actually saw it three times at the theater with three different groups of people.

Fantastic soundtrack
>>221616326Love this movie, first Coen brother movie I saw, but I was disheartened to learn recently that apparently this film (and more specifically the soundtrack album) directly caused the rise of millennial stomp clap hey music
>>221616326Is you is, or is you ain't, my constitchensy?
>>221616641I remember a terrible Hallmark adaptation, direct-to-video style.
>>221616406Coens are honorary Aryans from the MidwestOne of them is even in an open relationship like the average Aryan man
>>221616641I hear they're making one with Ellen page at the moment
>>221616406You ain't bona fide
The best odyssey adaptation Is still Papillon
>>221617711if homer didn't orate it to you himself you're a fake odyssey fan
I always mix up the Coens with the Wachowskis and then I'm glad once I remember they aren't trannies.
>>221618018I think that was still years away. I was born and raised in the South, and there were old ladies buying the CD because it was "Good, wholesome music." I don't know if they even saw the movie.
>>221619580Mumford and Sons have said they were inspired by it. Not the movie or soundtracks fault.
>>221618100Great casting choice. She'll make a beautiful Helen of troy
>>221616549>but is the film actually good?yeah it's great
>>221616326King of /tv/ agrees
>>221617553Every other highscooler likely did.
>>221617736well ain't this place a geographical oddity 2 weeks from everywhere
>>221621519Two weeks from Kyiv?
>>221617218Yeah it’s a great flick and very under appreciated
>>221618018There was no stomp clap hey music in it tho? And it predated that genre by like a decade Stomp clap hey came out of the 08 recession when lots of guys were laid off or went back to college for graduate degrees and had tons of free time to start brewing their own beer or learning the banjo or other meme hipster hobbies.
>>221617553I grew up in a hick town in rural New York and even my 10th grade English class read the Odyssey
>>221618326Not that far off sadly, one of them has given over his filmmaking to his lesbian jew wife.
>>221621934every brother director duo does this, they will get over it and make more kino together one day
>>221616406The Coens make a lot more sense when you realize they're goyaboos
>>221622499they just like telling stories ffs sake not everything is about da joos, they said when they were kids one of them would write the first 1/2 of a story and give it to the other one to finish then they'd fight about it. >fine you write a story and i'll finish itand back and forth their movies make a ton more sense when you realize how they work, one of them sets it up the other finishes it, and they swap which one is doing which.
>>221617553My dad would read me the ax knotch section of the odessey as a kid. But i never read the whole thing
>>221617553I read The Iliad and The Odyssey in fourth grade but I don't remember most of it.
>>221616326The best Anabasis adaptation

>>221616326Why do people say this?
>>221623309maybe watch it and find out for yourself
>>221622767I have the book. I started reading it but the first few pages are about how one brother is very disliked compared to the other and I fear I'm that person irl and it made me remember I hate myself and I stopped reading.
>>221616549Definitely
PURE KINOhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YDDEqgmGIVg
>>221617738We don wan no trable!
>>221619580>>221621786I was watching a video on the origins of stomp clap hey music and a ton of the influential acts within that scene credit the soundtrack as one of their earliest musical influences
>>221616406Even Hitler gave his old Jewish comrades from his Wehrmacht days a pass and they didn't even make like 5 great movies.
>>221616406like 99% of hollywood? wowwwwww
>>221618035THEM BOYS IS MISCEGINATED!
>>221620868Based Armond.
>>221621519This is among the most quotable movies of all time. Fucking masterpiece.
tfw bona fide
>>221624172>Yeeeeeeeeee
Pappy O’Daniel makes me laugh so hard that I cry. Every scene is solid gold.
>>221628098Kek
>>221616641there's that miniseries we watched in school. Wasn't bad
>>221620868Wait, Armond actually likes a movie people consider to be good?
>>221620868>sheeplei can guarantee he posted here at least once
>>221616326This is still one of the funniest movies i've seen.
>>221617711I read it in the original Klingon.
>>221616641Ulisse
>>221620868>Beep Beep Bopwut?
where my fop bros at?
>>221623886You should continue reading it. It's a legitimately great historical epic and the best part is most of it is real.
>>221628780>tfw you’re in a tight spot
>>221628777Trips of Divine Truth. >>221628907See >>221616391
>>221628907idk fop kinda looks cool. AND it's a real brand from back when. dapper dan wasn't created until 2011 and it was a bunch of stomp clay hey hipsters
>>221628907>will not turn hair redboo
>>221630049Dapper Dan was an actual thing back in the 20s. Since I’m an oldfag, I can remember older relatives making references to it decades before the movie came out. I double-checked it existed just to make sure I wasn’t getting Mandela’d.
>>221630094i love redhead girls so much bros...why are they such terrible people?
>>221616406Sorry, chuddie.
>>221628907Pomade only works on thick, dark Mediterranean hair.
>>221617636>>221620883>>221621812>>221622744Apparently The Odyssey is no longer being read in some schools (and even Unis) because iss rayciss and Eurocentric. Maybe that's why Nolan made a woke version.
>>221630385You know, another aspect of Coen bros movies that has always impressed me - their casting choices are in-fucking-fallible. Literally everyone they pick is perfect for the part.
>>221630603>The Odyssey is no longer being read in some schoolsAt least Florida is safe. For now, at least.
>>221630385THESE BOYS AIN’TWHOIIIIIITTTTEEEEE
>>221630603>The Odyssey is racist nowNice, another one for the list. Ever since The Great Awakening, when the media and "scholars" began to denounce a bunch of otherwise innocuous things as racist or too white, I wanted to keep track of them all so I made an informational, read-only subreddit which, surprisingly, hasn't been banned, yet. The Odyssey currently sits at #238 of #335 total. If anyone is curious, it's called r/isitracistlist
>>221631077You know one of the things that gets me about these “cancellations?” Anyone with a grasp on history knows that cultural extinction is a terrible thing. We’ve seen it happen many, many times - the loss of language, history, tradition. It leaves a people rootless and directionless, because it’s harder to see where you’re going when you don’t even know where you came from. A suspicious man might come to think that’s the entire point.
>>221631244Ideologues always want it to be year zero. They're always destroying past culture and artifacts because they want to be God and it is a reminder that they are not, that others came before them and they are just a small link in the eternal chain.
>>221631077>Great Awakeningmeant awokening
The Coens running theme: stupid White people
>>221631244>cultural extinction is a terrible thing... the loss of language, history, tradition. It leaves a people rootless and directionlessSometimes it's done intentionally or state sponsored like with China and Tibet, HK, Taiwan and the Uyghurs
