When I want to watch some Alien, I'll watch one of the good movies, which is of course to say: one of the first two, and no others.Oddly, dad liked Prometheus, which I found interesting. It has a few things worth liking (the abortion scene is tense) but its central sin is that it starts to systematically destroy the mystery of who the big chair guy was in the original, which was the whole appeal. We already knew all we needed to know on that one, a third species of some kind, just leave it there, but they just can't leave it alone, because they can't just leave money on the table.-Alien is my favorite film

You know what I vividly, angrily remember out of this whole show? It's not one of those legendary fuckawful bits, it's just something that seems to attack my autism, personally.So the jeet kid gets the cuck husband facehugged on purpose, and then he smuggles him out of the facility through an absurdly large air vent, because his family's being threatened. Fair, it's a dumb character doing a dumb thing but it's not particularly bad writing, tragedies happen because of stupid shit like that.And then the little ayy pops out. Faster than usual, but the movies have always been WILDLY inconsistent about how long it actually takes between the glack glack and the blood fountain. Sure.But now, the fuckin' newborn alien runs off, as they often do - straight into the jungle, on a large tropical island, never to be seen again. Well, was nice knowing you, earth. That's the worst case scenario, right? An absolute extinction event. Kinda cool really, guess the second half of the show will be about the downfall of humanity.20 minutes later, some guys catch it. Absolutely no indication is given of how the fuck they find it. Nothing is even really shown onscreen - just a very close shot of the alien wriggling through grass, then a net being thrown over it, then it being loaded into a cat carrier. Certainly no exposition is given of how they pulled it off, it's just something they can do. Wow. That apocalypse was really fucking easy to avert, actually.Bravo Hawley
